Has anybody here tried to connect wirelessly with a mac? I just bought an IBook and I realized that since Apple's market share here is practically zero it is going to make some things difficult. Is anyone else in this situation - and how difficult is it?
I wasn't planning on getting connected in my apartment, and specifically I was wondering if anyone has tried to connect at a cafe here with a mac. Is it difficult/impossible?
Thanks!

I have never tried it on a MAC (Wy on earth did you buy a MAC in the first place?), but I am asuming it would be pretty much the same setup as if you had a PC. Do you have a wireless router?

I think if you get one, and as long as your MAC has wireless capability, it should just "work". Since the wireless standard is the same (802.11x) it should work.

Look here for more info:

http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/wireless/2001/05/08/standards.html

That was just one of thousands of pages that shows you the standards that are accpeted today?

I dont know if I have answered your question in full, but to make a long answer short, I dont think it will be hard at all. At the end of the day, you can just get the ISP company to install it for you.

I own a 15" Aluminum Powerbook and connecting wirelessly is very easy. Connecting to the internet or a wireless signal is not dependant on which OS you are using. I own both PCs and a Mac. Just make sure you have your wireless connection on (its in the upper right hand corner of OSX) and if you click on it you can view which networks are available. Just select which one you want to use, if your using a D-Link or Linksys router it should say some random Default name like, "default" or "linksys" but this can vary.

If you are planning to connect somewhere that has an open wireless connection just click on the button like I said earlier and click on the name.

I hope this helps somewhat
