What an interesting comment. I was teaching about colour, asking for examples of things that were red, and the first time a kid said "the sun", I was completely thrown for a loop. After a few dozen more comments like this, I just grumble, point to the sun, mutter, and give them the point anyway.
The Ojibwae language (spoken by the Aboriginal people in the plains of central Canada) uses a single word to describe red, yellow and brown. There may be something to this theory of yours... |
