The Confucian notion of preference for boys is coming come to roost. There simply aren't enough females to go around, and many of the best and brightest of those are being snapped up by those pesky foreigners. Hence, many Korean men are 'reduced' to seeking out women from other countries , who, they hope, are sufficiently poor/desperate/compliant.. One more chapter writ in this dysfunctional society.

True. what I find disturbing is the way they purchase a bride in the typical Korean fashion, money buys love. And the way they pay some guy to find them a wife...and the way they go and choose her a bit like going to choose a puppy from the RSPCA...
15 million fee? My God, you could take a holiday to Thailand for a month, chat up all the chicks you want, fill their heads with stories of the wealthy lifestyle you can offer them in Korea, for only 10% of that cost.. Koreans are so unadventurous.

Rapier, sometimes I think that we were separated at birth. From your posts I gather that we're on the same page more often than not. But I feel compelled to take issue with the notion of Thai women taking up with Korean men. True, the Korea Herald article mentioned that 300 or so Thai women had married Korean husbands, but that's a drop in the bucket. Most Thai females are wise to the foibles of Korean males, and when they're in the presence of those horking, puking primates, they tend to run for cover. Their reputation has preceded them; even the taxi drivers in Bangkok don't like them. Yes, there are plenty of 'poor' Isaan girls in Thailand, but when it comes to Korean men, they're just not that hungry.

hey man, there are so many instances of korean and other asian females marrying white american or european men and moving to their countries thinking that they have now been "liberated" from their repressive asian culture and men only to find out that what they've opted for is no better in substance...

these women get abused by their "liberated" white husbands too and also deal with other kinds of problems...i wish that the people especially in the media would stop propagating these phony stereotypes...men are basically jerks everywhere and women have their own underhanded ways as well...i read somewhere that the most mentally and physically abusive men in the states were the caucasians...

so my bottom line is is that korean men want to marry these se asian women or whoever else, more power to them...

I think that with the next generation of "mixed" children it will bring a revolution in this country. I also believe that Rhoe and other politicians will not know how to handle it. I can see them basically reacting in very moronic uncreative ways to the challenges ahead. God help us!

Men are basically jerks everywhere???

Why don't you ask western women in Korea what they think of Korean men. The spitting, the hawking, the misogyny, the room saloon nights, the hymen checking, you cook, you clean, and you'd better do it well!

Western men are brought up to respect women as their equals. At least I was. Korean men are definitelty not. Thats not their culture.

Your statement is entirely wrong.

this characterization is an over simplification, and a slight to Westerners and Easterners alike.

I can only speak for myself, but as a Western woman, I am not attracted to Korean men. Yes, the spitting and hawking, but also the immaturity, the materialism, and the makeup. I would never date a man who looked better in makeup and headbands than I did.

Okay Ody. Let's talk percentages then.

Do you think there's an equal percentage of Korean men who have a good attitude to women as compared to Western men?
