| Notice though that only the Salvation army gets to have a vending store outside the big department stores. Love to see some oldies sitting on the steps of Ltte department stores, or Hyundai department stores or outside Macdonalds |

you want a to be a vendor? you need a permit.. you need a license..
you need to past hygiene regulation tests if you are selling food..
you need to pay taxes.. blar blar..
|
And what is wrong with that? The way I see it there is a stomach bug in every cart. Better to license them rather than allow smelly Grandma to sell chicken that has been sitting out in the heat all day. |
nothing , im saying yes back home its better. so I wish they got the same regulations here towards them.. dont get rid of them.. legalize them! |

| I dont mind so much. If their overhead costs are low, so are their prices (usually). |

I dont mind at all about the vendors selling food or other items on the street, there are some bargains to be had from these people. I do however hate from the bottom of my heart the loudspeaker vans who drive around selling stuff. They drive me crazy and I dream everyday about buying a catapault to launch attacks against these trucks and the wankers driving them. They are so loud it is ridiculous.
Street vending is not a problem and as another poster noted traffic laws are far more inportant, and I worry about my students getting run over a lot. Enforce traffic laws - Korea has 'em but police cant be bothered- , stop the public nuisance that is the BONGO van, and all of a sudden Korea would become 1000% more civilised.
I like Korea but dont like idiots putting on makeup whilst driving their SUVs or using their cellphone. For Korea to become a good place to live people just need to be more considerate. It's not that hard. |

I dont know.. also some of these pojjanmachas charge restuarant prices on their products.. I mean I can understand why a restaurant charges high on its drinks or food.. but a tent charging the same price??
they have no rent to pay.. power, management fee, staff etc...
I know alot of store owners complain when a tent opens up outside there stores.. call the cops get them removed.. they drive in set up make all the money and leave.. how can the store compete with that..
there must be hundreds of thousand tent bars across the country working hard on a weekend. making serious profit! all illegal???
YEAH RIGHT!!!
IM sure the local cops, local mayor, local gang, local government offical are getting something.. illegal!! hahahah thats a joke!!!
I drive past like 100 of them everyday ,, they are all over the city!!
crack down!! its more like the old people are getting forced out by the young tent owners by forced! and the old people go to the cops.. and cops say HEY ITS ILLEGAL! why you running tent bar?
thats all it is..
tent bars KILL IT!
a good tent in a good location will clear 10 million a month profit easy!
EASY!!!!
its a very profitably business.. sure you wouldnt want to tell your mates you own a pojjangmacha in korea if you were korean..
but fact is.. you pulling in 10 mill from one tent.. Im sure you have a few other tents around.. you be making some serious cash!!
poor mans job??? aaaaarrrrhhhhhhh I think a smart move!!
if I was korean I would be doing it too..
HUGE MONEY TO BE HAD!!! |

The thing I dont understand are the Korean shop owners that have to deal with the street vendors and the trucks. Trucks come by about every twenty minutes selling veggies or fruit. Now if I owned a store that sold veggies and some clown was coming by in a truck that didnt have to pay rent to sell in that area, he would not have any tires. I have never seen one Korean retail shop owner ever do anything about it. If it was legal for these trucks to do that it then fine. But, surely it is not.
If one of you gets a van and starts going by the store selling books...
A couple of you mentioned about how there is no social welfare and this is how these people get jobs. What about the people that get undercut by these people? Let's say, it was your dream to open some kind of small veggie stand. You worked your butt off for some dick head boss in a terrible job and saved your pennies to open up your business. You do everything right. Go to the GU office and get your license. You go every morning at the crack of dawn to get fresh veggies for your customers. Then some guy comes in and doesnt pay the license fee, doesnt pay rent, but steals your customers. You would not care about social welfare at that point as this guy is doing something illegal that is ultimately taking money out of your family's pocket. |

thats right! if I owned a store and some punk rolled up in his truck I would be standing there waiting for his ass next time with a sword! he wont be coming back again!
yeah its so not fair! also
koreans love to eat in tents.. so a snack restaurant cant really compete with that either.. its a no win situation.. the stores are getting robbed by the landlords and then robbed by the trucks or tents..
no wonder more and more people are opening tents and trucks..
it just makes more sense! its just wrong! the government must really crack down! nott this BS they say crack down.. mean while cops drink in there on their days off or after work or even stop off while on the roads for some topoki! its bs! but hey thats korea! |
