Hey,

I was just wondering how many people have read this book. I am not an ESL teacher, but am thoroughly enjoying the book. Having taken GMAT last year, I am now used to strict grammar. Not that I never make any mistakes. So, how many of you ESL teacher are "sticklers?" Very Happy

That is the BEST book! This summer, at the age of 30, I finally learned how to use a semicolon! (No thanks to you, U.S. public school system! Mad )

My flatmate has ranted and raved about that book.

I am a huge stickler for punctuation and I use the CP Styleguide for the basic rules. Most kids are not advanced enough to really understand the more advanced concepts but the styleguide shows most rules in clear, easy to follow examples.

Yes, I am nasty about it because if you are teaching English then you have to teach the whole thing.

Just my humble 20 won worth.

pffft!

Nothing has nor will ever beat Fowler. (But by all means avoid the horrid PC-ed travesty of a third edition and track down a proper second edition.)

Maybe you don't realize that Eats, Shoots, and Leaves is about grammar, but it's for pleasure reading, not as a text or reference.
