Seriously, are you insane? If Korea had its act together would you have a job here? It seems to me Korea being messed up provides you with a lifestyle and status you couldn't have back in your hometown of Meat Cove, Nova Scotia. You should be thankful.

| I've applied twice for the cards each time I bought a new phone and they always take my alien card number and tell me they'll send it off to be processed, but that they are not sure if it will work, which it hasn't. I had a Korean friend sign for me as well. At least I could take advantage of the rainbow day special when it started. Wish it would start up again, I loved the 50% discount. |

The guy who got me my phone account has the card in his name. He uses it. |

It's the Hyatt, and I liked it when I first saw it, but leave it to CNN to allow advertisers to pay so that they can show them so many times that you beging to hate them.
Anyway, back to the topic:
I.F.E.Z.* commercial. The effects are slightly above cheap, and what does a family coming out of a limo have to do with investing in I.F.E.Z.?

not about CNN...but the phone discount cards:
foreigners are able to get these cards. I have had both an SK and LG card. Both of the accounts were in my name. SK requires 200 down as a deposit...but you get that back when you stop service. LG requires no deposit. as for having a different name on the card, most places never check the card name....they just swipe it. |

Since I spent 8+ years in the TV industry, I have to chime in that the reason you see so many of these commercials is because I'm almost certain a "trade" was done between CNN and these hotels. Most of their stuff comes from different sources who submit it, but more than likely. CNN crew stay free at these places when they go somewhere for in-depth stories, etc.
As part of the deal, I'm sure the hotels pay a fair amount of cash, too. |

The IFEZ one is pretty funny. They're also running the Cheju one on CNN International a lot these days. Looking like the Rajin-Sonbong Zone.
And I get what weatherman's saying - remember the "Seoul City Bus Tour" ad? They ran it on Korea Rail a lot, just after the Bin Laden cartoon ad. You see the white guy on the tour bus. He smiles and points at stuff that he's looking at out the window. That's it. We don't ever get to see what's out the window that he's enjoying (63 building? Namdaemun Gate?). We just see him.
Apparently that's not important. We're seeing what the Koreans who paid for the commercial want to see - Happy Waeguk on their bus. I doubt the ad ever got many Happy Waeguks onboard.
Anyway, any talk of CNN International has to mention Kristie Lu Stout. What's not to like? I figure they're training her for future stardom on the real CNN network. |
