Is like an oven in the place but I tried to turn off the heat and my girlfriend freaks out because she's cold. In the summer I can't even use the air con for more than 10 minutes because she's cold. All Korean people get cold this easily?

My girlfriend is the same way. But I dont think it's a Korean thing since every gal I've been involved with had a very narrow temperature comfort zone.

My girlfriend is the same. She's Korean.

I am starting to think that maybe it is a Korean thing, since her friends are the same.

I have the same issues. I need to sleep in the buff without blankets, while the GF is under the blankets wearing layers.

Last week, my GF and I walked into a cafe near Dongdaemun, and they had the heat cranked up, sauna-style. And I'm not exaggerating by any stretch. I thought that I just walked in past a heating duct with hot air blowing out, until we walked further in, and the whole place was like that. She thought it was great, but I couldn't breath in that environment, so we left. There is definitely some up with the temperature sensitivities here.

Yep, I walk into subways for example and just about pass out. I've got my big coat off within seconds and slowly start to revive. While Koreans are all wrapped up in scarfs and big coats. Same on buses, which puts you to sleep, which can be unpleasant when you need to be on the ball as soon as you get off the bus ...

Last winter I stayed in a Yeogwon in Seoul.
The FIXED temperature in the room was set at 29 degrees celcius.
It was like -15 outside.
Crazy.
One of the coldest nights of the year and I had to sleep with the window open and the hot water tap running because that seemed to lower the room temp by a couple of degrees.

Women are always cold. Get with it, non-experienced-with-women people.

Would those be the same people who are talking about the women they're in relationships with?

I think it's because they don't have as much body fat as us so we effectively have a few extra layers of instulation on them. Thus they feel the changes in temprature a lot more.

I remember reading an article on eating disorders and one of the problems that people with low amounts of fat had was keeping warm.

Oh great, so now you're turning this into one of those Westerners-are-fat threads!

So that would explain why your hands are always cold?

My thoughts exactly crazylemongirl...Smile Even at home in Canada..my friends who are "underweight" feel the cold alot more than anyone else.

I don't think crazylemongirl is saying westerners are "fat"....but she means...people who are skinnier feel the cold more. It doesn't matter what country you are in...

Women tend to be affected by cold more than men and seem to stand heat better. Many women lack iron in their blood. Women generally lack body fat that helps keep them warm. Evolution has no doubt geared women to be heat seekers to keep their growing baby warm.
