Ok so here's the deal- fix this problem and I'll buy you beer and pizza. A contest of the elite- but everyone has a shot.

Sooo, I'm running Windows XP pro (eglish) on my fast little computer. On one dark and rediculously cold day (yesterday) I get an error message on reboot "system32 is corrupted or missing, insert windows disk and press r". That sounds easy enough, but I don't have an winxp disk- having bought the computer here. Sooo, is there a workaround, or mayhaps does someone have a winxp disk (english only, though media editon would be okay) that they wouldn't mind helping me out with.

So there you have it, who can solve this conundrum. Remeber beer and pizza for the winner- and hell, even some "Cheetos".

Try downloading SP1 Setup disks and booting from your floppy drive.

SP1 disks= no go, didn't work
And the thing is, I could do a systme restore, but it doesn't even try to load windows- and I can't get into dos either. I WOULD BT windows, but I can't find a place where I can burn it or a PC bang that would gladly let me BT.
Thank you all for your help, please keep ideas coming!!!

Yes.

Hypothetically, of course.

As the computer is booting up hit F8 and set the first boot device to the CD Rom drive. Then reboot and the computer should boot off the CD. Then you can do a repair installation.

Look around. I think it's under advanced bios features and you choose first and second boot devices. Make the first the CD rom.

Oh, and it's best if you have everything backed up. I've never lost anything with a repair but you never know.

When you get to the screen witht he options look along the menus at the top. You'll see one that says Boot or something similar. Use your keyboard arrow keys to get there. When you do you'll see instructions on how to move around the screen with the keyboard on the right. Use these to change the boot order of the hard disk, cd and floppy. Make sure that the CD drive is listed at the top. Insert your Windows CD once you've done this, press F10 to quit and save your changes and away you go.

Know though, that this will reinstall Windows for you and, unless you know what I mean when I say 'partition' you are most likely to lose your data too.
