|
|
I am currently working for a university, but I will be taking a job at another university next year.
My contract ends on February 28th. Do I have to wait until my contract ends before I can leave the country to get my new visa? I'd like to get it done in early February. Is it possible?
Happy New Year! |

Congratulations on the new job!!
Have you asked your new employer about how they usually handle this situation? I'm sure they've dealt with it before. |

No, you can do it as soon as you get the blue form. You will need a letter from your current uni which confirms the end date of your contract, and your new uni will submit this to immigration when getting a blue form for you. |

yeah, but to get the blue form, you and the current uni will have to go to immi together to get it.
they will also give you a 15 day exit order. |

Are you sure about that? Why would you need your old boss to go to immigration with you to get a blue form for your new job? I'm pretty sure that the new uni will take care of all the immigration business and paperwork, as long as they have the letter from your old uni. That's what they told me, anyway. |

that's what i was told by immi in daegu when i tried to switch jobs. they wanted the old director to come in person to sign the papers. its tantamount to getting a release from your cuurent job. |

Procedures are a bit different for universities. I don't think any of the faculty or staff at my uni have ever stepped foot in an immigration office. |
