|
|
My first 12 months is nearly up and I am due to go around again. I'm planning a move away from Seoul and have decided on Jeju.
I have applied the old fashioned way, (Daves Job Wanted Board, English Spectrum etc), but are getting mostly recruiters. Personally, I'd rather go direct with the school.
Even if I do just head on down to Jeju on a tourist VISA and ask around, the chances of finding a job would have to be pretty slim, surely.
Is there a list of schools in Jeju somewhere that I can pick my way through? Or is there a better way?
*Anyone leaving their job mid/end of Jan??? |

I know one of my friends is leaving in mid-February, but I'm not sure if he's already got a replacement. I'll check with him next time I see him and try to hook you up. If I hear anything else, I'll let you know.

You can use a recruiter, but you do need to find the right one. Try some Google and Yahoo searches for schools. There is some stuff there, but I don't know how good it is.
Word is that there are a lot of jobs in Jeju City. PM me if you want second and third-hand information about one school in particular to avoid. |

I always used to keep an eye out for Jeju contracts, but they are rare. I think either teachers cling to those jobs like it is gold or there are not that many schools. |

I'd say it's more of the first one. We tend to keep our jobs, or find people to take them for us. The good schools don't tend to need to recruit b/c we can always find people to take them. Friends of Friends of Friends are the first people who get the good ones down here.

Consider Yeosu.
I was down there for a visit two weeks ago and it's stunning and warm.
The apartments are the best I've ever seen for haggie teachers, and privates run 45000-50000/hr.
Cost of living? All I know is I paid 200 won/odeng! |
