aussies, koreans, papua new guineans...
esp the latter... png's have a custom called "hammerim sikis-pek igo tulait" (hitting the six pack til dawn)... and they can sing well and cook some marvellous food - fresh reef fish, sweet potato, taro: great memories |

Be whoever you want...i can either be polynesia...or new zealand...so yeah sweet as.
By the way...i'm down with the military boys...the one's ive met have all been sound...no worries at all...interesting guys...the ones ive hung out with didnt really feel they had anything to prove, therefore no dramas... when you know you can kick someones arse as quick as look at them i guess that sense of security within yourself negates any need to prove it to anyone (although i've mostly hung out with older gi's and officers). |

Yeah, I got that all the time while traveling through the Middle East from both fellow travelers and Arabs. It's like uh, thanks. One egyptian dude said, "You can't be American. You aren't fat!"
Anyway, I enjoy drinking with Aussies the most. Cavet though: if I'm the solo American and there is more than 2 aussies, then it usually gets boring because they start talking about back home and strictly aussie subjects. |

Nine people have voted for Canadians.....!!!
Honestly...
How many people ,who are not Canadian, have voted Canadian as the BEST nationality to have a drink with? |

The G.I.'s I've met have been good. I've heard some stories (both good and bad) that I probably wouldn't get to hear from anyone else. Late in the night askew glances sometimes get them riled up and wanting to beat up your friends, but hey, they're in the army!
The only people I've met that I'd rather not hang out with were in Itaewon...so that doesn't really count, does it? Well that and a Cape Bretoner (-ite? -ian?) who got in my nerves.
What the hell was I talking about again? Intensive sucks.
But you know what? Stereotypes aside (and ample room for individual variation) there are somewhat common "national personalities". Hey, stereotypes happen for a reason! |

| AUssies and Kiwis seem ok for a quiet house party, but haven't met any gut-busters from there. |
Funny that, cause we also get the opposite reputation, just too f'ing pissed and rawkus. Maybe kiwi's just don't know how to hit that middle ground very well ... |

Yep. God bless drinking patriotism.
I wondered the same thing.
For example, I being Australian admit to voting for Australia just to make my country look more popular even though I don't overly care.
I'm sure based on the %age of this board that is C'nuk most of the votes for Canada came from the good ol' nationalist boys also. |

To be perfectly frank, I love to have a beer with Duncan
I love to have a beer with Dunc
We drink at the town and country
And we never ever ever get rolling drunk
We drink at the town and country
Where the atmosphere is great
Love to have a beer with Duncan
Cause Duncan's me mate! |
