Hi folks

I just arrived in Busan to visit a friend, but said friend has suddenly fallen ill and has passed out somewhere with his phone turned off. Since I was relying on said friend to organize the frolics and amusements for tonight, I'm now at a loss on where to go and what to do. For that matter, I'm not even sure where I'll sleep tonight, but I'll worry about the 'having fun' portion of the evening first.

So to those of you in Busan, any fast suggestions as to where I can have a good time in this burg tonight? I'm looking for a place where I, in my official capacity as a 20s guy, can wander into alone, casually dressed and with very minimal Korean, and feel comfortable (ie. friendly Koreans and/or friendly foreigners).

Incidentally, I am currently in a PC Bang in the drinking district behind the big fish market across from Yeong-do (or if you prefer, close to stop 11 on subway line 1). I'll probably hang out here for an hour or two, then start randomly walking into places in this neighbourhood if I haven't heard back from anyone on this board.

I will be here until early next week, so any advice you give will remain useful for several days. Any suggestions for Busan activities (touristy, cultural eventy and nightlifey) would be appreciated.

Thanks!
TrouserX

Try crossroads or soul trane in the Pusan National University Area, just down the road from KFC, or Blues Bain near Lotte Store in Seomyeon. On the subway it`s Pusan National University NOT Pusan National University of Education.

Please tell me if this helps.

Go up to Seomyeon station. There are lots of hotels and bars.

Or go to Haeundae station. There are lots of hotels and bars.

Also Kyungsung Univ. / Pukyung Univ. station.

I always spent time around Pusan National University..

But if you are by yourself and really really bored and don't know anyone.. then Russia Town/Texas Town might be another option.

Especially if it isn't too cold. Take a seat along the street at those Filipino cafes, buy some vodka or gin and watch the world go by--or use some other means of locomotion such as stumbling or crawling. Always entertaining for people watching.

If it's in the same location as before, I can give you some guidance. But, I remember it being turned into a Soju bar sans pool table (I saw it for myself)

Go to Lotte Dept. If you are looking at the main entrance of the store, you want to walk to the entrance on the left.

From there, if you are walking out of that exit, you will go straight and follow the road that runs parallel to the main road where all the bus run, until you see another large 4 or 6 lane road. Cross the road and continue going to straight for one block. Then turn right and Blues Bein should be on your right hand side. It's almost across from a Japanese restaurant.

That is, if it's still open. I might head in that area this weekend. I will left you know if it's still in the same location.

I concur, Texas st was one of my favourite nights out in Korea when I was there last summer. I got hosed with a Norwegian sea captain and two ugly Russian whores at one of those Philippino bar/restaurants. My friend went of with a bunch of Philippino sailors playing guitar. I was convinced he would wake up in Manila the next day with a sore bum and an empty wallet as they looked like a scurvy bunch. There was something very Hemmingway-esque about it, top stuff!

Cheers
