I saw they were looking for a rather large number of teachers this Spring. Anyone know much about that? |

Yeah, I've read this post a couple of times now and that is NOT normal - it doesn't look good, does it.
I'd look into it and continue to ask around - visit them and talk to teachers when you have a chance?
Need more info on this as it's unusual. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, by wasn't Hongik the school that the con-artist was working at? The one with the fake degrees?
The school must be cleaning house after that -- looking for qualified people with REAL degrees.
I heard that "every foreigner on staff" there knew he was illegal, so maybe the school has fired everyone out of spite? Who knows what's true? |

That was Konkuk, in Kwangjin-gu. Hongdae is on the other side of town. I know several of the current Hongdae teachers, I never thought that they needed or could support 30 teachers. That would be a huge department, considering that most of my friends there have been re-hired as far as I know. |

The ad mentions " It is required to teach in the Hongik ELI(English Language Institute) Camp program during the summer and winter vacations, if requested."
I'm not sure how to interpret that exactly. Does that mean no vacation time? Or just limited.. |

Limited. If by chance they need you for both camps, then you'll still have a few weeks each semester break, as camps don't begin the first week of break and end the last week. That's another sweet thing about uni jobs. Even if you have to work during summer or winter, you still get at least a few weeks off. And if it's a decent uni, they will pay you overtime for every simgle hour that you work during the summer or winter, so you get paid double during the breaks. However, with 30 teachers, it is unlikely that they will need you for both breaks. |
