The purpose of buying a grinder is so you can have freshly-ground beans each time you make coffee.

Getting it done in the store is preferable to buying a pre-packed bag of ground coffee but not as good as grinding it freshly at home.

Depends how fussy you are about your coffee......

exactly. I actually won't grind my coffee until the water has already boiled. Move beans from the freezer to the grinder dump them in the coffee press and add water, wait 4-5 minutes and mmm mmmm nothing better...
