|
|
| I picked up a 40GB usb external drive for my laptop. It autodetects fine on my computer, and on my friend's new HP desktop with korean o/s. But when I tried using it on 2 other korean computers, it wouldn't autodetect. I'm thinking plug n play is probably disabled, but trying to get around a korean system is a nightmare for me. |

| Never had any problem like this: my external HD has always worked, and my laptops have been bought in Korea, US, UK and Taiwan. |

The one problem I have had with some of the external drives is they don't show up in My Computer or Explorer...
I open explorer and put the drive letter in the Address Bar and I can access the drive. |

I'm willing to bet the farm on the beav.
USB flash drives are not automatically recognized in 95, 98, Me, NT, or early versions of 2000 without Service Packs. |

Sure, some of the older flash drives do (the newer ones don't, unless they are puttting very very tiny CDs in those packages- but you just download drivers from the company's site), but still you have to admit it's a bit of a drag having to carry around the driver CD as well as the drive because some of the computers you might want to use the drive on are still running ancient o/s. |

| I think Beav and Bulsajo win this. Korea's still largely Windows 98 Land. Means you have to futz with drivers. |
