So anyone got an update about their new high school contracts.

Here's one that was posted today, with pretty good conditions.

Quote:
Salary : Start 2.0 Millon Won

* Holidays : Full Paid Summer & Winter vacation (At least 40 days each)

* Class : 21 Hour(50 min)/week

* Working Days : 5(Mon to Fri)

* Working Hours : 08:10 to 17:00 (Paid over time work - \25,000/h)

I agree the salary is shite, however I was using those as an example of Gyeonggi Do high schools that seem to be offering similiar packages as in the past.

I spent a lot of time calling the head office in recruitment there (GEPIK)about 2 months ago. Sent my resumes in etc. The man was very pleased that I had 5 yrs exp and teacher cert. But, when he told me the salary conditions I was wondering if he was trying it on. Shortly after, I decided to return to an old employment. I wonder what would GEPIK feel having dedicated people giving up and going elsewhere?

Actually I feel sad myself. For years it seems I had been looking for ways increase my standing and confidence in Korea, and GEPIK seemed a good medium to do that. I'm angry and annoyed to have these hopes dashed by ridiculous salary conditions. I mean, the difference on paper between old employer and GEPIK is now about 600 000 month! Who can take a decrease like that?

And, also anoying is that some private schools here accept only Nth Americans. So they fly untested teachers over from the US rather than interview someone with exp and the quals here. So, yeah, boo hoo. I'm sure I'll get over it. Bummer about GEPIK, though.
