|
|
If you take the subway a lot you eventually ask yourself "what IS that on my hand, where did it come from, and how do I remove it?"
A friend with a baby one day pulled out a little travel packet of baby wipes. I barely knew this product existed. I immediately understood how this product could improve my own Korean experience. Now I always keep a packet in my backpack.
Anything else you keep in your backpack for minor emergencies?
I always keep some ASA and bandaids. In winter I pack some chapstick and a little travel thing of hand lotion. Also I have some little Canadian flag pins to give to kids on the subway who practice their "hellos!" with me. |

"What's in Your Backpack?"
Me?

A digital camera. My hangeul worksheets. An umbrella. Sunglasses.
Second, the now and then stuff....
Empty food packaging. Empty drinks bottles. |

You guys don't believe in travelling light do you?
At any given moment in my purse:
- wallet ( ID, money, transportation card)
-cellphone
-novel
-pen and paper
-lip balm
Add my MP3 player if I'm going to Seoul- the bus rides around here aren't long enough to need it otherwise.
Of course, I have two desks and a cabinet at school to stash stuff in. Hand creme, another book, anti bacterial cleanser etc stay there. |

I haven't been hassled while out in public for the past two years -- except the couple of times when I went out avec backback. Seriously, backpacks are freak magnets.
Anyway, here's Sparkles's paraphernalia checklist:
- Mobile phone, left pocket (check)
- Home key and work key, right pocket (check)
- Wallet, back pocket (check)
- Strawberries N' Cream Lifesavers, right coat pocket (check)
- Pack of Kleenex, left coat pocket (check)
If I am ever chased up a tree by a carnivorous animal in Gangnam, I'll rue the day I didn't pack my Swiss Army knife. Until then, I'm good.

That depends. Since
the list - mp3player + minilight + 1 change of clothes = what I carry when travelling travelling,
it doesn't feel like very much. I carry that much every day back home, too. If you carry a good pack, worn the right way, it's almost not even there. |
