Been downloading torrents from the net and playing them on VLC player with no trouble... suddenly they won't play without stalling continuously, or with the sound faster than the audio...

Tried playing them on Divx and BS Player etc, but no joy.

Have checked C & E drives to make sure plenty of memory left (there is), and have run a complete AVG Virus test too (no virus)...

Have turned off all applications while watching, even disconnect the net.. still no joy!

Any suggestions?

Hmmm....interesting....your ears will finish the show before your eyes.... Laughing

As for the problem....I haven't a clue. Perhaps your machine is having some codec problems. How many players do you have installed? Look in the Audio area of the control panel and look at the installed audio codecs. Try uninstalling them chronologically....perhaps you can backtrack to the problem?

Doh! So I wasn't paying attention when I wrote the subject!!!

OK. Yes have VLC installed, that's what I always played the stuff on.

Tis not a problem with the audio codecs, as I only installed different players after the problem started (to check it wasn't codec thing).

The problem is not that the audio is going too fast, it's that the visual is going to slow!

Help!

This happens to me if hardware accelleration isn't working. Try changing the bit depth. You may need to be running at 16 or 32 bit to get overlay acceleration working. Open the codec properties and if there's an "overlay" option make sure it's on.
Make sure "hardware accelleration" is cranked all the way up in display properties and also in Direct X properties and the codec properties if applicable.

Had a fiddle and a pole with the settings and it's now fine.

Thanks for your help!
