Just wondering how much people are paying for gym memberships. The health club at Yongsan Station is pretty expensive, around 80,000 WON per month. I'm having trouble finding a gym in this area though and i wonder if 80,000 is high.

any input anyone??

I go to the local sauna/jimjilbang- it's not the plushest but I pay 6,000 won per visit, which includes the shorts, t-shirt and a sauna so I'm happy with that.

40,000 Won, but I don't get shorts or a sauna. They do was my clothes for me though.

In Daegu, 50,000 a month. No sauna but a good range of equipment and they supply kit.

That's one thing that always puzzled me about Korea - gym memberships are expensive. May as well do some pushups at home

I swear that my first korean gym was 10,000 won a month, but since I've never heard anyone else quote a figure close to that am starting to wonder if it was all a dream.

mine's 160,000 for 2 months. in apkujeong... which i'd say is pretty cheap for the most artificially expensive 'hood in seoul.

In Wonju, 3 months - 100,000 won, but, you have to live in wonju. it's a great gym though

i pay 150,000/3 months for my gym in Hannam Dong. I like the gym but its just too bloody busy these days. Going on a Monday or Tuesday is out of the question.

IMO $50 per month is incredibly reasonable especially after I took a gander at memberships at gyms back home in Toronto (well over $100/month)

Mine is 75,000 for three months, plus 10,000 / month if you want to use their gym clothing, which they then wash. After reading the above I think I'm getting quite a deal. It's not super, and most of the treadmills are shit, but it has everything I want, most importantly a sit-down toilet close to my place of work and long, hot showers.

I live in a teeny little town, and the local gym charges 160,000 for 8 months. It's pretty small, but the owner is really keen. He strolls around, making sure people are using proper form on the machines, and leads a group yoga/Pilates session for the women, several times a night. I feel pretty lucky. It helps that there's nothing else to do here in town other than hit the PC bang, or sink some soju, and no native-English-speaking foreigners within walking distance.

My gym is 80,000 won per month but you get a discount if you sign up for a longer period of time. I signed up for 9 months (after trying another gym for 3 months) and paid 60,000 won per month.
It is the Jamaica Fitness Gym in Cheonho. They give you clothes, the machines are all very new and well maintained and the treadmills are good (with TVs even ) The showers are also very clean, except for the guys spitting in them all the time.
No raquetball courts though and the sauna is never hot. I can't figure that out. What is the point of a 20 C sauna?
