The casing of my Compaq laptop is broken. It looks like it might be a tricky job fixing it. Does anyone know where there is a hp/compaq service center or something similar in Seoul? |

There's an a/s place at Yongsan. If you go to the Space 9 mall and take the sky bridge over to the sketchy old electronics building, the top floor has a Compaq A/S office. Ask any HP dealer in Yongsan where it is. You'll probably need to drag along a Korean speaker, of course, if your Korean is as bad as mine. |

60.000 Won for a new case. I paid that last month for my Compaq notebook. They are in the HP office...ground floor....Youngsan Electronics area. If you are facing the Han river....HP is on the left side of the street.....about a 10 minute walk from Lotteria....walking toward the river. Contact is: (the only person who speaks English there) Kwon, Bong Ki...Director...phone....018-324-5109. When you are facing HP...two entrances...side by side....take the right side entrance. |

So that's two people with Compaq laptop case issues- what's the deal?
Are compaq laptop housings fatally flawed and brittle/delicate?
Or
Are they amazingly tough and can really take a beating- even when the case needs fixing the hard drives etc. are still going strong?
Just curious, can't really tell which is the case from this thread. |

Stripped screw in my case....why? Hell...I never removed any screws!
Problem was the screw area of the battery....I don't leave my battery in the notebook when it's connected to a power source....remove it almost everyday...removing and replacing the battery many times a week....weakens the screw housing area of the battery.....corner of the laptop. Anyway....nothing lasts' forever! And it is 4 years old. |

I've owned three compaq laptops. One, that work paid for, I was really pleased with. Its coolest feature was an RCA video jack, which saved you the bother of having to buy an S-video jack. But I find their laptops in the $1500 consumer range JUST TOTALLY BITE. Thicky, heavy, cheap case, a battery that lasts 3 months, components that barely work together, a BIOS that can't keep time... |
