I would say they are examples of rude passengers, not rude bus drivers. However, as a Brit I concur with your experiences. Groups of teenagers who flagrantly ignore the no smoking signs really annoy me. In my hometown I have come across a few rude bus drivers too. Sadly, they tend to be of South Asian descent. |

Yes, they are rude passengers, I was just trying to counter the Postman Pat image that tzechuk was giving of public transport back home to be honest.
As for the South Asian drivers, it's not something I've noticed- but hazarding a guess at their attitude, how many times a day do you think someone calls them a 'paki'? |

It's something I have not witnessed on a bus. I think it's more likely that they are normally stern anyway. I have some Indian friends, and I was lucky enough to be invited to their houses on occasion. The fathers were stern even in those situations. It's a cultural influence in my opinion. However, as they are in the UK they should try and respond politely when someone says thank you when alighting from their buses. It's a part of our culture. After all, I bow when I greet Koreans, and show more reverence to elders than I perhaps usually would in the UK. |
