Thanks to all who helped me out on my previous technology thread "Please help me enter the digital age.."

Now that I have my music library in MP3 format on my notebook, I've been looking around the internet to find a specific model of MP3 player, and I came across the iRiver H10:

Here are the stats:

http://www.iriver.com/html/product/prpa_product.asp?pidx=61

Here's an article I found about it:

http://www.reigncom.com/eng/media/press/en_pr_read.asp?no_noti=1074&cd_noti_host=10

It looks pretty sweet. It's only 5GB, but i think that's all I really need anyway. It can store photos (once I get a digital camera) and display them on its color display. Apparently it was just released in the US a few weeks ago for $280.

So I'm wondering if anyone has one of these things yet, and what do you think about it? And even if you don't, what do you make of it? Would you buy one if you needed something like it?

And to those who do have one, where did you get it, and how much does it cost here in Korea? And how much are replacement batteries for it?

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Glad you got your songs sorted out. It took me a while to get mine sorted out too.

I looked at the H10 when I was doing my shopping, but decided that I just didn't like it. The price difference to go up to a larger hard drive model wasn't too much, so getting a 5GB just didn't seem economical. Plus I read some bad reviews about the battery life and replacing it when it got old.

I bought the iRiver iFP-799 (http://www.iriveramerica.com/prod/ultra/700/ifp_799.aspx) a coouple of weeks ago and just love it. I've got 150 songs (in high-bitrate) on it now and still have 250mb or so free (1GB flash player). It's got a voice recorder and direct encoding, so it's cool with me. It can store digital pics on it as well or any other type of file you want so long as it's under the 1GB.

One negative I originally had (lasted about 2 days) was that I had to use a program that came with the player to add or delete songs from the player. It wasn't simply drag-and-drop from the My Computer page (ie. it's not recognized as a drive, but simply hardware). Once I got used to the program, I actually like it. It's very easy to use once I figured out that I had to actually turn on the player before it would be recognized by the program (duh!). I also made a mistake in installing it, so I had to re-install it twice (made the same mistake twice actually, duh!).

I ordered it online from some shop my co-worker recommended (not danawa) and it was 295.000 plus I got a free battery recharger (it runs on a single AA battery for about 35 hours or so. I still haven't changed the battery since I got it) and a few coupons for free downloads and stuff from the net (which I gave to my co-worker 'cause I sure as hell didn't understand what it was for), and the normal accessories.

Accessories: earbud headphones, neckstrap for carrying, "leather"-type case to wrap it, strap to put it around my arm for exercising, and the USB cables/manuals/stuff.

All in all, I love the little player. It's great, and I hope it will be even better once I actually download the manual and figure out the little things that aren't accessible by pushing a button (but I don't know what else there might be).

Good luck on your shopping. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hi JB,

I got the new Iriver H10 about 2 weeks ago and I am really loving it. I've already put about 40 complete albums on there, and I am still under 2 GB. I bought it for 363,000 won, and I have seen it in 6-8 stores since I bought it and it's always been the same price. But, it's very easy to use, the battery is very good, lasts a long time, and the ability to store pictures is very cool. Basically, I would call it solid. I don't really ever see having any problems with it. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the comments. I went out and picked one of these bad boys up this afternoon. That iRiver flash player looks pretty cool kprrok, but I figured I would need something with a bit more memory.

I love the color screen, too. You can even see your pictures on it. And yes, very easy to use indeed. There's no English manual in the box, but I don't think I'll even need it.

Thanks again.

Check www.enuri.com. I had a look and it's available at many stores for 340 000won. Ipods are getting cheaper (258000won for a 15G Ipod from Emart).
