Ack... good luck. Before someone more qualified rolls in, I'll just check to make sure... is it for PC or XBOX or what? |

ok...generally when you download a game, whether it is for the pc or game system, you have to uncompress the image file using a program such as winrar. This is very simple just open the program and uncompress the files into a new folder that you specify. Now you should have a bin and cue file and you will need to burn this using Nero. So when you're in nero click the recorder tab on the top and choose burn image. Then just load up the cue file from your folder and burn away. Now you should be able to install the game right off your perfect image cd. |

sweet jesus, i thought i'd just download it and be able to play it right away.
ok so, i'm looking at tiger woods 2005 and there is a bin file and a cue file....you're saying just to burn the cue files to cd with nero and i should be able to install it from there? |

yes...but you have to make sure that you choose the burn image option under the recorder tab or else your cd will be useless. Once you've burned the image you have an exact duplicate....it's as if you've purchased the game. |

So, i installed all three CDs, everything went smoothy....everything installed successfully, yadayada.....i go to play the game and it keeps giving me a message to insert the course CD (which is CD 3) and restart the game.
I've done it about a million times. anyone else have this problem? The disk IS there and complete, because in "my computer," the disk drive reads "Tiger woods course CD" ....oh the frustration! |

What typically happens is that the CD will have some sort of copy protection - typically in the form of errors on the disk which most CD copying programs will ignore / 'fix' for you. When you put a copied CD in, the program will look for those errors, not find them, and spit out your copied CD.
You can get round this by changing the program file for a hacked version, which removes this check. The link Demophobe posted has such hacked files. Replace the one on your hard drive with one of those (rename the old one and copy the new one across, so you can go back if you need to), and everything should come up roses. |

well, it seems i've failed. i've downloaded the replacement files but i have no idea what to do with them. I searched my whole computer for those files, in order to replace them, but the search brings up nothing.
like, if the file i downloaded is TW2005_MI.rar.......what the heck do i do with that. in the tiger woods folder, i only have a bin and a cue file.
i'm guessing i have to go into the program files to find it, but i did a full computer search and it took forever.
i'll give it one more shot if another technical-minded person can give me some advice.
thanks. |
