My asthma has returned with a vegence this winter. Does anyone know a good doc for asthma in Seoul before dust season hits?
I went to the international clinic this afternoon under the assumption that I would get on the nebulizer and avoiding the requiste shot in the ass that goes with the terrority of visiting a korean doctor. I would be wrong.
I can't take ventolin. So I'm also after a different type of controller/reliever called bricanyl
it comes in a turbuhaler but none of the drug stores I visited have heard of that. And have just given me ventolin instead.
Also anyone know what the hell peak flow meter is in Korean? Again blank stares from the drug store people. |

Have you tried looking online for medical supply stores? I'm sure there must be some out there that can ship to Korea. |

Foreigners Experience Difficulties in Living in Korea
Overall living conditions, including education, housing, medical care, transportation, immigration, and access to the Internet are pointed to as inconveniences...An official in the International Cooperation Division of Seoul City admitted, "The same complaints regarding visas, transportation, education, and environment are raised every year without being solved, due to the lack of cooperation from government agencies involved and their passive attitudes."

There's Bricanyl on this page, 긮ī in Korean. But they seem to have it in sirop and tablet form only... It's made or distributed by Astra Zeneca Korea (ѱƽƮī).
Hope this helps.

긮ī ͺ(BRICANYL TURBUHALER)
Guess this is what you're looking for... maybe if you have the Korean name they will recognize or at least be able to order it for you in the drugstore. |

The Department of Allergy was established to offer internal treatment for patients showing hypersensitive reaction to harmless substances in the environment. Some of these allergic symptoms include bronchial asthma, chronic coughing, exercise-induced asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, anaphylactic shock, food/drug/bee sting allergies and eosinophilia. We work closely with our colleagues in the Department of Pediatrics, Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Department of Dermatology and Department of Ophthalmology to take a multidisciplinary approach in diagnosing the etiology of allergic rhinitis, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis and allergic conjunctivitis. Our staff also provides personalized solutions for various allergic diseases and consultations on immunotherapy in collaboration with the Allergy Center.

How bad....??
Time for a dose of Prednisone...??
Usually when my lungs go to utter crap and I take that stuff (steroid) for a week I could run a marathon for months afterwards.
You can get it here.
It's a strong drug so you have to follow the instructions very carefully or you may get some really serious side effects. |

I had an injection of steriods last night instead of inhaling it through the nebulizar. Plus I'm on prednisone for the next week and have to take an oral dose of theolan for a month.
It's good to know that bricanyl is available in Korea. I have a prescription for it just got to find a damn drug store that stocks it. |

CLG - when you go to the yonsei IC, did you specify that you want to see Dr. Linton? Whenever I go, I specify only Dr. Linton and he is a nice enough fellow to listen to what you have to say! |

I agree 100%! If There is anyway to get it...Dr. Linton will probably be able to get it for you. When I went to see him, he called the pharmacies to make sure they had the medicine I needed before I went....AND the pharmacist called him back to let him know there was another medicine available... ... even Dr. Linton was surprised. Anyway, I recommend Dr. Linton to everyone..I visited a few other doctors here...but once I found Dr. Linton I swear by him. |

another thing you can try doing is having your NZ doctor fax over a letter in med speak to whomever you're seeing here. That's what I had to do once. |

Does "med speak" really work in the "HUB of Asia?"
