Not for me.. but someone else I know who doesn't have a bachelors but wants to be in Korea. They have an American passport as well.

I was just thinking maybe the U.S. army base hires civilians? Or do those jobs often go to the soldier's spouses?

Can anyone help a non-soldier out?

found a little bit:

Quote:
Full-time or part-time jobs are listed through the Seoul Civilian Personnel Office (CPO) and are advertised in the Weekly Bulletin. ACS has an employment readiness section, with excellent staff, which can assist you in your job search, and in filling out the Form SF171 for GS positions. They are located in the Community Services Building 4106 on Yongsan South Post, Room 221. Telephone DSN: 738-8977. There is also a Hannam Village outreach center at DSN: 723-8293.

may not be a bad way to enter the foreign service. They too require an SF-171 form and the OP-612 and if I remember right from my politicking days these forms can be duplicated by one agency and sent to others.

Since the US military came up...I was wondering if anyone knows how to call a DSN number if you're not on-base. Is there a prefix to the 7xx-xxxx ?

You may be subject to curfew and restrictions in places like Itaewon and Hongdae if you take one of these jobs.

Do you really want to have a curfew like you did in junior high?

Sad to say that I remember this...bugger. DSN stands for Direct Service Network. To dial a DSN number from off base, dial 0505 then the 7 digit number.

Do you know how I remember?

'Cause I, unlike Jane, wore my MOPP gear and made instant coffee.

I am pretty sure they are restricted by the curfew.. it's all over AFN constantly (when I watch Jay Leno and Letterman) while it wouldn't be a bad job by any means the curfew would be something that wouldn't be appealing unless you're a introvert who stays home all the time.

I heard that you have to be in the states to apply for these jobs if you are not military. Don't know for sure, only what I heard.
