Several of my cousins have popped out babies this year and I'd like to get them a Korean kind of gift. It seems too odd to give a hanbok to a child when I'm their only connection to the country, and I know that Koreans give gold rings to babys on their 100 day ceremony.
Are they expensive, can I buy them anywhere and what are they called in Korean? |

Go to any jewlers - prices are standard wherever you go - the price of gold. Figure about W40,000 or so. |

100 days= 1/2 gram ring
1 year= 1 gram ring
We got a stack of 'em for Scarlett recently. They're not expensive- but W40-70,000 isn't cheap either, especially if you've a lot to buy.
Buy them at any e-mart. |

Wow....40,000 won for one ring?...isn't that almost double what they are in Canada..? I'm pretty sure they are only about $20.00....I think I got a couple of those when I had my daughter christened....if I were you I would double check the price in your country....if it makes that much of a difference I would send the money to someone there and have them pick them up...unless of course you want to send them directly from you. |

The Korean rings are pretty cool - I got a few when my kid was born. 100% pure gold and really soft / easy to bend etc. And you can sell them straight back to a shop if you wish at almost no price difference. |

It's not just any old rings you buy - they have to be pure gold. 24k. Does anyone know the price of gold in Korea? |
