Living in Korea, we sent our PR application to Mississauga and finally we received a note saying that I have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor and our application has been forwarded to the Canadian embassy in Seoul.
We checked our processing times and it looks like it will take about 6 months. We are wondering about what we do in the mean time. Also, I forget where but I read something about once being accepted we can receive a paper stating permanent residence so we can use that to enter Canada... Any ideas, info or support would be appreciated. Thanks a lot! |

What I understand is this.....once you have been accepted to sponsor your spouse, you then have to wait to see if he/she meets the requirements. After they determine that the spouse meets all the requirements then they issue permanent residence. Your spouse can enter canada with permission but not for the whole waiting period. I'm not sure where you get permission but I read on a website that you must give a reason and a departure date...if you do not leave canada when you promised they can/will cancel your application for permanent residence. Your best bet is to fax or drop off a question at the canadian embassy. Congrats! You made it past the first step....I'm curious what they consider to approve ability to sponsor...anyway...good luck.. |
