I just read some rasism personal stories in Korea and I felt like I should tell mine as well.

I am visiting a friend of mine who's new zealander lives in nelson ,small town , in south island of NZ. I have been here for six days now and as I walk on the streets at daylight, some locals here just say the meanest things u can hear like go home, asian not to mention cursing and calling me names.

what made me angry the most though they are driving and say the words and they can easily drive away.after I got picked on five times after six days of stay in nelson, I decided to just sit and wait for the next one come along so I can at least try to chase the car after or write down the car number so I can go to police station, make complains at least.

none of locals picked on me after waited a while.

personally I like kiwis. and I met so many great kiwis here. besides some of my best friends are kiwis. it's just that wish they stop the vehicle and be racist.

so I went to library and made this post ..here it goes

Attention Racist.

Do not pick on Asians while u are driving. if u have something to say, stop
your vehicle then say it instead of driving away. there's saying for comes
around, goes around . you might want to tell yourself that saying over and
over before you become racist. the world is becoming global and I have been
here in nelson 6days ,yes I am Asian girl, and I got pick on by locals more
than 5times already.

I used to help foreigners back home as an interpreter and asking you to stop
your vehicle and be racist.I will be more than happy to listen to your curse
face to face rather than driving away ones.

That's just plain wrong.

But may I offer a suggestion? To be taken seriously and to show that you are intelligent, you might want to stop: using u for you, double space between sentences, and capitalize.

Are any of them afraid that you'll take away their men?

If you really want to piss them off don't say 'you stupid Kiwis...'; say 'you stupid Aussies...'.

This is my take on New Zealanders attitude towards asians. Except for the Maori and pacific Islanders, New Zealanders are used to being a White, British only country. They aren't used to seeing a lot of non whites, except for the Moari. In the last few years there have been a lot of Asians going to New Zealand, probably driving up property values. At the moment quite a few Kiwis aren't very fond of Asians, but as more Asians move there and as asians and kiwi get more used to eachother I think you will find racism decline.

That would be the sound of the nail being hit on the head.

Sorry to hear that katieinnelson, I suggest you leave Nelson and head south, or north or east or west. You're currently in BOGAN country. Asians have been getting a raw deal in NZ recently like the other poster said, partly due to rising immigration and partly due to disaffected youth having too much time and drugs on their hands.

Hope these swine don't spoil your holiday!

Yea, don't get upset!(easier said than done)

I went back to the UK last year, had the same kind of shit from some inbreed country boys in their car.
"Where did you buy your wife etc"

They are also well hard driving past at 60 miles an hour.

You find it everywhere, in Korea too.

This is true because Itaewonguy knows a lot about racism. After all, he is the guy who refers to Australian aboriginals as 'abos'.

Oooooh, I'm so angry!! I am a kiwi and I have been in Korea for 2 years. I've almost NEVER had a problem with racism here. In fact most people couldn't have been nicer. So needless to say I am absolutely peeved (want to say something stronger, but it will be bleeped out) that fellow kiwis can be so ignorant and hurtful!!!

On behalf of kiwis I want to apologize for their behaviour. I have lived in Nelson and have to agree with the comment about Boguns. Definitely!!

While I do not condone what they have done, there are many, many reasons IMO why Asians find racism in New Zealand:

1) in recent years the immigration criteria have increased significantly. Now you need to be extremely wealthy. This breeds resentment amongst those with less.

2) Even as recently as 10 years ago there weren't that many Asians. The Asian population has skyrocketed in recent years. Faster than ignorant and insular kiwis can deal with. The population dynamic has changed so quickly that they can't keep up.

3) Asians (primarily language students) have been getting LOTS of bad press over the last year due to some high profile court cases including one where a young (I think Chinese) student killed a young girl while driving (after the episode of two years ago I think most Koreans can relate to this) and his father paid a HUGE amount of money as a fine to prevent the guy being jailed and then he was deported. Again, causing the feeling that if you have enough money, nothing is beyond your reach. Even avoiding justice.

Again, I am really angry that this has happened and obviously ruined your holiday, but I hope that by reading this you can understand the background.

Wishing you a much more pleasant stay and some fonder memories...

Im australian I call aboriginals ABO'S..

I cALL MYSELF A wog too..

there is nothing racist about using a slang name!

I have abo mates, and they refer to each other as abos, and most kids growing up in OZ do to do..
we call Americans YANKS!
and we call englishman POMS!
doesnt mean we are racist!
just means we like to use slang names.. nik names..
wouldnt expect you to understand..
you never lived in Australia so you dont understand how it works..
if you had been there you would know all Aussies growing up and even now use terms like this.. doesnt mean anything bad its just the way aussies are.. YEAH its bad to call them ABos, its not racist!!
just improper! everyone knows its just part of the way it is..
if you want to say its racist then so be it! because I DONT!!!
I love black people, white people, yellow people, brown people, green people! just becuase I call new zealaners KIWIS or Australians Aussies or aboriginals ABOS.. doesnt make me a racists!
A racists is someone who HATES people for the color of their skin! or there ethnic background, culture religion!!!
so get the facts straight before you call someone a racist!!
becuase I am far from a racist buddy!!!

just as calling Australians convicts, or aussies,
or calling new zealanders KIWIS,
or canandians CANUKS..
are all these terms racist???
if I call a canandian a canuk does that mean I am a racist and I never want a canadian to step foot into my house??
BRADLEY!!! sometimes you really say the most stupid comments some times! you drunk when you wrote this??

It certainly does. Maybe those Kiwis involved had been ripped off by hagwon directors in Korea? A year spent being taunted by racist brats, losing your girlfriend because her parents don't approve of someone of another race, and then shafted by your director for all the money you've earned, can tip some people over the edge.
