Anyone use one?
I need to move a bunch of furniture (fridge, washer, couch, chairs, computer, etc) from one place to a 4th story place (without an elevator).
Is there a name of a shop that specializes in these things? How much would someone project a cost onto this? |

Go to any moving company but tell them that you only need a hand to lift stuff. Then you'll have to negotiate on price.
Ask around or look in the phone book. Or PM me and I can recommend a good service that I've used twice. |

I used a moving service in December.
2 guys with a truck and about four hours of their time was 160,000.
They quote you a price based on what floor they have to remove from and what floor they have to move to. I moved from a 2nd floor to a 4th floor.
They did everything. From packing up smaller stuff in your old apt to placing it all where you want in your new one. That's the cool thing about Korean moving guys. They expect you to leave a lot of stuff unpacked until they get there. It's normal for them to box up stuff for you.
I can get you their nember if you like. |

| What do they call those moving companies in Korean? Do they have easily recognizeable signs (like the bu-dong-san or real estate agencies)? |

Make sure you let them know that there is no elevator (and make sure they understand it - big difference) before you get the price quote. I had some guys whining and complaining and asking for an extra 100,000 when they saw my new place had no lift.
You should expect to provide them with some snacks (juice, kimbap, etc). While others would disagree, I see nothing wrong with this and find it kind of nice.
However, avoid having them do the work anytime around a meal or they will expect you to buy it for them. And I'm talking "they are off to a nearby restaurant for an hour of soju-swilling" type meal.
I'm not sure where to find them (someone else found our guys) but if you know a local realtor, they will surely be able to arrange it for you. |

| I need someone to move some luggage from Seoul and Suwon to Busan. It's nothing big but it would take me three pain-in-the-ass trips at least to move it all. |

If you have their number.. it would be very good!
I had my friend's Korean girlfriend ask around.. but it was quoted as 250,000 won.
Thats a lot of money! Particularly since all I really got is refridgerator, washing machine, and some furniture (no small items to pack).
Or if anyone else has any leads.. I'm near Itaewon going about 6 subway stops away. |
