| I upgraded to the premium package about a month ago and I still have the exact same speeds as lite. Am I not in a good location or should I call and see what's up? For those of you that have also upgraded, did they send you a different modem or just change something at their end? I download at about 270 and upload at about 60. Does this sound about right for lite? Thanks. |

You say you download at 270kb/s and upload at 60kbs, or are you missing some zeros on the end of those numbers?
I just got re-connected with Lite at my new place this morning. The tech tested the speeds and said it was downloading at about 3Mb/s while uploading at about 300kb/s. He said that was good, as the average is 2Mb/s and 200kbs (here in Seoul), always about a 10:1 ratio.
Anyway, that was this morning. I've since installed Windows SP2 and now I've limited (it works for about three minutes) or no connection because of some problem with the KT network.
I've seriously had it up to here (gesturing at a point so far above my head) with KT and their stupid* technicians over the past couple of years. And since I'm fuming at them for the third time this week, I'll be on the phone to Hanaro Monday morning.
*Clicking the mouse a couple of dozen times over a few different icons to try and get a slow and busy computer to respond is silly. To be done by a computer technician really is plain stupidity. |

I had a problem with my modem and the guy came and put a new one on. This doesn't require you to double click on an icon to connect. Weird.
My speed test reports 3.8 megabits (480K) download and 3.8 megabits (480k) upload. That's weird. Usually upload is much slower than download. I'm not sure if this is right for megapass premium. Hrm. |

The Megapass Speed test gives me these results...
Download: 8.12 Mb/s (1.01 MB/s)
Upload: 8.23Mb/s (1.03 MB/s)
That seems WAY off to me...especially the upload speeds.
However, when using an international site (http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp), I get these results:
Downstream: 1214 Kbps (151.8 KB/sec)
Upstream: 336 Kbps (42.0 KB/sec)
This seems a little more realistic, especially since the majority of sites I visit and download from are outside Korea.

Where can I find the KT Megapass speed test. My speeds seem to be way below those .. usually only in the 250-300 range either direction.
Thanks |
You can find it here:
http://speed.kornet.net/nmain.htm
but I believe you have to be connected with KT, as you're required to login with the same account info you use to connect to the internet.
Good luck.

| I ran that U.K. broadband test on my ITC Cable setup and tested out at 157/28.6: pretty good for a cheapo cable hookup. |
