I know the consensus is that they are a nightmare. I just had a job at a hogwon that recently fell through after a month of being led on... and that was through direct contact with the school. Frustrated, but still hopefull that something can work out in SK. So if anyone can refer me to a "good recruiter" (hope thats not an oxymoron), that they might have had a good experience with, I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Billy

Recruiters are only as evil as the schools they work for...

ESLtour and Peoplerecruit seem to be relatively OK....

Good to know Saxif, thanks. That said, anybody ever dealt with Philippe Voisard at ezenglishexchange? He's been relatively helpful... just not sure.

This is my 1st time dealing with a recruiter, and will be my 2nd time in Korea. I found my job through Koreana Teachers Club/pnf. They found me just the job I wanted right away and have generally been good. My only problem was when my original recruiter flew the coop and another buy had to pick up the slack. Since then they've been fine again. I'm due to fly two weeks from today so I don't have the final word on them, but so far I'd go with them again. None of the horror stories I hear about the other recruiters.

seemed kinda shady.. he works for a s chool but owns his own recruiting business? use a lot of recruiters to open up your options. Make sure you visit the school and get a feel for it.. recruiters can find you lots of jobs but, it's up to you to make sure it's a good school.

Yeah, I talked to them on the phone (canconx), they seemed really nice and are currently trying to seek out jobs for me based on my requests.

If you are coming from Canada, stay away from May Kim...she's a filthy liar. She's one of those recruiters that will tell you whatever you need to hear to get you to sign a contract...don't trust her.

That's so good to hear. I am glad I could be of help to someone here!! I can personally vouch for him. I contacted several other recruiters, but he was the only one who I felt I could trust.

Always straightforward and he tells you not only what you want to hear...but all the things about coming here, good and bad. We could count on him from the beginning and still can...and it's nice to have that comfort.

I am considering renewing, and many folks who have worked with him and this program have stayed for more than a couple of years, because it's such a great job! Having settlement allowance and a week long orientation in a nice hotel was really awesome too....no other recruiter was better.

I consider myself very fortunate to have found him, and I am glad I didn't go for the hagwon jobs that paid more! Hope you decide to go with him....you won't be sorry!!! Trust me on that one!

Let me know what happens!!

Smile
