I have seen a slough of no running signs in subway stations these days, in Korean and English.

Given that these things usually happen after an accident, did anyone hear of something happening recently?

About 1 1/2 years ago my friend saw a guy take a faceplant at Sinchon on the stairs. Apparently, he lost teeth.

Curiously I noticed that too today. Koreans can be idiots about things like this. Once some old dude decided, at the height of rush hour, to run for ... something. It wasn't like he was trying to make a train so he didn't have to wait 5 whole minutes for the next one. He was moving between lines. I'm not sure where he thought he wanted to go so quickly. But it popped into his mind to sprint. It didn't pop into his mind "how far can I run during rush hour before I run into another human being? There's only bound to be a throng of commuters coming up those stairs from the other line." If he did ask himself that, I answered it within a second with the sharp point of my shoulder.

I saw the old idiot break into a run, not notice me coming around a pillar. Both of us could see our paths were going to intersect. Better him than me, I thought. Instead of letting him run flat into me, knocking me onto the back of my head and possibly inducing a coma, I turned my shoulder into him, ensuring I couldn't be knocked onto my ass. The idiot basically took the energy of his run dead center in his chest, stopped courtesy of my pointy shoulder. I knew it was going to hurt him -- a lot. And I didn't care. It did hurt him a lot. You could see the expression of pure pain on his face. That will learn him. Don't run in the subway. You won't get very far before you hurt someone. Maybe yourself. Old idiot.
