It's just bad grammar. He's in the shower...previously he has seen 14..
In any case. Who cares? This goes on all over the world. |

| I think Koreans, in general, are just very comfortable and at ease with being intimate with each other in social situations. It stands out only to us, because we have this invisible barrier of personal space around us. However, when it comes down to talking about homosexuality with my adult students, it seems to garner the same squeamishness and uneasy body language that you would see back in the West. |

| I think you're spot on little mixed girl. Kiddirts you can't go to another country and append your ideal of where the "gay line" is - as it will always be different for different countries - about the 30 year old who has never had sex, well, remember in Korea sex before marrige is usually frowned upon. Traditionally, guys are taught that friends are men - physical contact between the sexes is taboo, so, you can be much more physically affectionate with men instead (except to the level of being gay) - does that make sense everyone? |
hahaha...Don't even get me started with that whole sex before marriage in Korea is frowned upon...Maybe so but it goes on...ALOT...just like everywhere else in the world...^^ joke of the day!!!!!!! |

| According to my female friend, Korean men DEFINATELY do have sex before marriage... mostly after military service (whatever that means). And according to her, they are very bad at it -- not caring about fulfilling the female's needs. That's her experience. |

| Because we had some interesting conversations in the past about various subjects. Sometimes, something will happen over the course of a day that compels me to talk about it on here, but not without first checking to see if there was a discussion history on the subject, and bringing it up again in the context of what other people have previously shared. Not a big deal. |

I could blather on because the subject area of cultural norms fascinates me..but I'll just share this...
When you see the kids groping each other, in strong language imply that they are gay. Do this a couple more times over the period of a month.
You will see that the behaviour will stop.
What does that say about how Koreans view being perceived as gay? I'm not sure...but if you pull crap like this it says a lot about how I perceive you...but alas the filters would nab me.
It is strange though..if you look at the US where gays battle for "equality" people are far less inclined to show physical affection towards same sex partners...m2m at least. Is this only a factor of the "gay war" dunno..unlikely...probably the North American attitude about sex/nudity in general. look on TV...violence good...sex bad...
Go to a lot of places in Europe...sex good..violence bad...
So much for not blathering... |

This is exactly what people should do. Learn from chronicpride's example. It is good to see what has been discussed in our past and relate it to the present. It is also good to see how we have grown or regressed. |

I saw the words "logic" and "Korean male" in the title....
Then I thought... can these two ever coincide? |

Perhaps not, but "Korean male" and "gayness", that's another thing... |

After doing some more thinking on the subject I've come to the conclusion that it's not them that have the problems with physical touching, it's us. Up until about 100 years ago it was common for westerners to do the same thing to our close friends and there was no erotic motives behind it.
It's only been very recently that we've moved away from physical touching as a sign of friendship for fear of being labeled gay or lesbian. Yet when think about it what's wrong about for example stroking a friends hair or hugging? We still do that with kids as a sign of affection (though less so now in than in the past due to fear of being labeled a child abuser) and I don't think that as we get older our need for affection decreases.
Yes to some degree partners fill this need but there is undercurrent of this leading somewhere else that just isn't there in platonic friendships. Perhaps the pressure that modern partnerships have that they must be a lot more all encompassing of emotional needs in a way that didn't have to be even in the past due to a larger and more deeper support network is making modern relationships impossible to maintain. |

I'll go along with this.
I notice now how people in the USA, at least, are totally paranoid of being touched. I tease/push shoulders/pull pony tails on my students in joking all of the time. They laugh and think it's funny. The Korean teachers were the ones I learned it from. I could never do that in the USA. I'd be labeled a "pervert" and probably fired.
I think it's all a reaction to how gays have tried so hard to make their lifestyle "normal" with the help of massive "gayness is great" media-driven agendas. People in USA society are freaking out about it, although not able to express it, for fear of Political Correctness, and going the opposite direction in an excessive way. |
