How in the hell do those things work?

I'm talking about those tubes that connect to the faucets?

I had a mover bring one in.. but its not hooked up! Now I realize there is one 'cold water' tube and one 'hot water' tube based on the blue and red color scheme.

But the problem is.. 1) the tube doesn't quite fit to the faucets very well! (the faucet stout doesn't seem to be long enough).

And the main problem!! Do I turn on the water when I start the washing machine? I don't get that part? How in the washine machine world does that work?

TB

It should be a screw-in connection at faucet end and washing machine end. If you can't simply screw in each hose then you're missing the connecting parts.

You can connect the blue and red if you want hot water from your boiler to go direct into the machine. I think a lot of people just connect the cold water hose and leave the red off.

Keep the faucet on for the cold water permanently. When the machine is switched on the water will come though itself.

Thats the part I don't get. How can I leave it on permanantly? Wouldn't the tubing just explode or something??!!

Apparently I'm definetely missing a part however.. as if I did turn it on.. the water would be spraying all over the place on the connection part. I'll have to look more into this.

Some don't have a screw together joint. There are a few different ways to connections but the easiest way to do it is to take a digital photo of the faucet and bring your hose with you to the neighbourhood hardware store -- show them to the hardware person and you'll get what you need.

No. It won't explode if it's connected properly. The hose just becomes like an extension of the pipe. The washing machine valve will take care of the flow of water.

You might want to turn that faucet off if you're anal-retentive, paranoid, or going away for a few days.

Holy smokes- I'm having the exact same problem (just noticed yesterday)... Water all sprayin' around cuz the hose connection is junk.

AND I did the exact same thing.. Digpic'd the faucet, took it to one of those street shops with appliances, and got a proper hose from the all-knowing ajosshi... Cold water tap stays on, don't bother with the hot.

Might wanna bring in the old hose too, so the guy can see what you need on the washing machine end of it... Make/Model number might not hurt, either.

Happy laundering!

I used to be a contractor (construction) and perhaps I could hook things up for a price.

Hook it up any old way. If it explodes, blame some other guy, claim linguistic ignorance and then youll probably get another one.

I wish I could!!

I bought the washing machine and moved it to my *new place*.

Doesn't quite seem to hook up right.. but I am getting closer to figuring it out. Sounds like I need something between my poor faucet and my original tubing (that worked for the other guy in the other apartment - where i lived for a week - and it worked for me too).

Confused
