I was taking a bus from Kangnam to Bundang at around midnight last night, and the express bus driver kept falling asleep! No one else seemed to notice, but I was in the front seat on the opposite side, right behind him. When we hit some stop lights near Yangjae before heading oo the highway, I noticed he was stretching and shaking out the cobwebs a lot. I gave him some Lotte "Don't Sleep" gum, which I happened to have in my pocket. The dude was only driving about 50kmh on the highway, though and kept veering our of the lane.

Man, was I glad to get off of that bus!

I had to keep poking a taxi driver awake one night. Lowered all his windows. Turned the radio up. He kept falling asleep anyway. On an expressway!!!

Tiredness seems to be such a normal condition for many Koreans. A lot of people here sleep only 5-6 hours a night. I think the old, "sleep is for wimps!", saying still applies here.

We should be smacking these drivers as well....our lives are in their hands! If he's dumb and ignorant enough to fall asleep at the wheel without any regard of the consequences...they deserve a smack or two.
I have taxi drivers tell me..."I'm tired..work long hours!" I tell them...who the hell is forcing you to work long hours? That's YOUR choice so don't make excuses for being stupid. I want to get to where I have to go in one piece! I ain't ready to die just yet...too many bills to pay and many people depending on me to pay those bills..so wake the hell up you idiot! And stop driving so fast! Driving fast does NOT mean you are a good driver...it means you are stupid, uneducated and don't care about anyone or anything except yourself. (I learned how to say all that in korea and it sure gets their faces red!)

I was coming home late last weekend and I caught a cab. We were heading down the olympic highway towards jamsil and I notice a pair of headlights coming TOWARDS us. I kept saying to the taxi driver. Cha! Cha! Bwa! Cha! She just got out of the lane in time. A full head on accident with both cars doing 100 and they would have to scrap my remains of the ground and send whats left home to new zealand in small box!
