It's a very good book, and undoubtly a lot of it is true.
But I would take it with a grain of salt, as the co-writer\ghost writer is Pierre Rigoulot, who is part of the neo-fascist movement in France and has a serious axe to grind with North Korea. |

Ive read the first hundred pages of The Koreans, who they are, what they want.. Its really good. I wish Id read it a long time ago. Ive only got a week left at the end of my second year then im off home. Really good for general discussion with adult free talk students.
The new history of korea I bought also but i found to generally be a bit heavy. Also I like Koreans Unmaksed. Ive bought How koreans talk also which looks kind of cool.
A few of the books I would say are a must for any expats here wanting to get a real insight into the culture. |

| In a slightly different vein, "I Am the Clay" by Chaim Potok is a good novel about Korea during the war. I'm surprised that more people here aren't familiar with it. |

There is a book about Korea's economic growth that has been very popular. Author was Alice Amsden
Title " Asia's Next Giant: South Korea and Late Industrialization"
A film a while back was made out of the book "The Hunters" by James Salter. It's a story about life in the airforce during the Korean War.

| It's 20,000 won and five hundred pages called 'Korean Cultural Codewords' or something like that. I bought it at Kwangwhamun Kyobo. |
