|
|
Hi all.
Turns out the Norton that I got with my laptop wasn't free.
Now it's expired. I'm pretty upset by this. I really don't want to go to the trouble of reformatting and reloading.
Does anyone know of a way to get free or at least very cheap antivirus protection? Something like a firefox type solution?
If not, do you know which commercial software is the best?
Thanks |

AVG worked fine, but I thought the pop-up window was annoying -- reminding me to buy it, etc...
AVAST is totally free after you register it. For something like 2 years.
I've used it several months, and have it installed on a computer at school. It can be made to run in a stealth mode so it doesn't bother you much. |

Wow, thanks all.
So useing these programs have you experienced any shortcomings/virus infections?
Also, is there any reason not to run both simultaeneously? |

AVG free works well. I and many friends are using it. I don't know about Avast.
As far as using 2 in concert, I wouldn't advise it. Sounds like a good thing, but in reality it can cause several problems. |

| I installed AVG to see if it's any good and it detects Adspider as a trojan. Any ideas to explain this? |
