Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

A) There is NO good Mexican in Korea (although there is some passable Tex-Mex*)

B) This thread has already been done over in the FAQ arena, wankers.

* The closest you're going to come to good Tex-Mex has, surprisingly, not been mentioned here. Try Chilis, TGIF, or Bennigans for starters. Expensive, but as close as you can get to the real deal in Korea. You might enjoy Marche's Tex-Mex as well. The fajitas used to be pretty good but I think they stopped serving them. Finally, there's a bar called Uncle 29(or 69, or whatever) near Gangnam station that used to serve THE BOMB fajitas. And at a totally reasonable price. Haven't been there in years, but you may get lucky.

All the places mentioned in this thread so far are A) rubbish B) crap C) refuse D) jestsam and E) I fart in their general direction.

Sadly, mack the knife is right, though I've yet to check this particular place out.

There's a Mexican place in Songtan that is reasonable. The food isn't quite right, but there are quality ingredients, and if you get the taco salad along with your burrito or whatever, you can make everything taste right with that and the refried beans on the side.

Going to go again and check out the other staples, chimichanga and such. Not terribly expensive.

That's pretty much what I do. I got a friend to mail me a big gross of taco seasoning. Mix that up with beans, ground pork, and onions. You can make flour burrito bread with flour, water, and your frying pan.

I am absolutely horrified at mack the knife's suggestion that the only decent close-to-Mexican in Korea can be had at such overgeneralized international chains. True, I do enjoy the more-or-less western food at Outback and TGI, though Marche is way overpriced. But the issue here is genuine Mexican flavor. Being Mexicana myself, I have to agree with those with as much real experience as me. I was thoroughly impressed with The Salsa Loca. Yeah, admittedly, it was a bit pricey. But you know what? I'm WILLING to pay that much for something that was that fantastically good. The service was very friendly but not obsequious (something that always bothers me about Korean places), the food was excellent and very fresh, and the refried beans made me almost cry with memories of Sinaloa.

Please enjoy this restaurant, but like demonicat said, PLEASE keep it a decent and enjoyable place for everyone. Wink

I was just at La Salsa Loca last night.

The best part was the salsa that came with the chips. They were good.

The food was only so-so and is indeed overpriced. And the margaritas absolutely suck.
