|
|
| This question is not about part-time jobs that one could get approved at Immigration. I'm wondering about part-time and temporary jobs of the illegal variety that are advertised on sites like English Spectrum and WorkNPlay. I'm itching to apply to some of these things (I want more money), but I'm afraid one of them could be an Immigration trap or something. Am I just being paranoid? I'm reluctant to send my resume with my name on it to someone I've never met. Do the people offering these gigs usually ask for references? If not maybe I could put a fake name and altered school names on the resume until I meet the people face-to-face. What's your experience and what have you heard? |

Rule of thumb: You are not original. if you were you would be doing something else. Ergo, if YOU thought of it, you can be sure others have. Including immigration. Therefore there is always a risk that when applying for an ILLIEGAL job, you could be falling into a trap. |

Someone posted a newspaper link on here where the immigration folks said they'd be doing some ad posting of their own to try to lure in people.
I wonder what the legalities of it are. Entrapment?
Then again, I'm sure they wouldn't care. |

| Not that Immigration are lazy---but remember that stat about 1 Immigration officer per 200 000 illegal immigrants. Something like that. I wouldn't get too fussed about them getting online. |

| The focus on placing fake ads and busting people who reply to them, as well as offering people who post their resumes unlawful jobs and busting them, is slated to begin in June. |

| Busting people for answering on-line ads or nailing people who post their resumes offering to do illegal work is not very labor intensive. Potential for a big return on relatively small man/investigator man-hour investment. Be careful or better yet, "Just Say No." |

| No need to be a *beep*, Homer. Of course it's obvious that applying for those things could be dangerous, but I was wondering what people's experiences have been. I thank the other 7 people who gave useful replies. |

Ok,
You would be applying for illegal work. It may not seem like a big deal to you but it remains an illegal activity, hence it is against the law.
This means that it is a crime and that as such a certain amount of risk is involved. Consequences may come such as deportation, fines and general unpleasantness.
Not to mention that you are mentionning online application for these jobs which, as was mentionned raises the risk of the entire clandestine operation.
Hope that was detailed enough for you. |
