back to the original OP's post:
houses with lack of windows
what does this say about korean culture? possibly that they don't have any desire to look outside their own little worlds at the 'greater' world. may be that they keep there true feelings hidden behind the walls of a public face? |

Anyone know anything about what I call the Walt Disney fairytale architecture...you know, the buildings that look like something from Snow White and the 7 Dwarves?
I like it. My Korean friends tell me it is traditional Korean, but I think it is a copy of stuff out of children's books. |
Yes, they are traditional Korean buildings.
Traditional Korean love motels. |

The kindergarten I worked at in Jeonju looked like this too! There were also a few other schools in this style--I'm not sure if they were kindergartens or hakwans, but they weren't love hotels because they had playgrounds and pictures of cartoon characters!

Found this funny little bit of trivia about Seoul Tower.
"Last year the people from Seoul Tower themselfs even claimed on their website that Seoul Tower is 'the highest tower in the world'.
But how is that possible? Seoul Tower is of course a wonderful piece of engineering that gives the public an opportunity to get one of the most spectacular views in Asia. But Seoul Tower surely can't be the tallest structure in the world? According to many sources, including Judith Dupres' famous and wonderful book 'Skyscrapers' it is only 237 m tall. That is not even half of CN Tower! So what is the explanation? Hold on to your seat;
The people from Seoul Tower said their tower was the tallest in the world...
because they included the mountain on wich Seoul Tower is standing!!! "

| My funny friend Laura says Dunsan-dong in Daejeon (the area around the 4 gov't buildings) looks like Sim City on steroids. |
