Money killed someone? Tell me who was killed by a 10 000 won note. Please. Id love to know. mao was a vile man. I wonder if Peppermint would wear a watch with Adolf Hitler.

when did money (capitalism) kill someone?

indonesia/timor
northern mexico and the maquiladeros
labor disputes in the US and canada the early 20th century.
england... just read some *beep*. edit - why 'd i c k e n s' gets beeped is beyond me...
countless native peoples in north america, south america and wherever else manifest destiny decided to go...

just a couple off the top of my head. if you want to factor in metaphorical death with the number of people working in soulless, low-paying jobs the world over since corporations have outsourced anything worth doing for a living... add a few million.

i want to wear a daechidong waygookin watch. he's so much more 'mickey mouse' than mickey mouse could ever hope to be.

You mean coins and bills magically came to life and killed people? Must have been something!

Kids choke on coins all the time. Does that satisfy your nonsensical debate?

The coins dont jump in kids' mouths.

Hey Uber,

you should have no problems bringing that stuff in. Of course, don't declare it. I just brought back two t-shirts with war propaganda and one poster from Vietnam, and there was no hassle at all. I also brought back some old school originals from China. When I was dating a Chinese girl, she got a real kick out of them. And they make good gifts for my family members who run for election as candidates for the CPC-ML (Communist party of Canada-Marxist Lenninists).

Geez, I guess according to Daechidung Waygookin this means I'm a NAZI.

Seriously, I think those customs guys are more concerned with meat/dairy products, fruits or vegetables, OTC phamicuticals and illegal narcotics, in that order.

I brought these things back from China

customs didn't check my bag though (do they ever?) so I can't really tell you if they would've had a problem with them.

what would be awesome if this was a discussion at, say, a party or some other real social interaction.

daechidong waygoofy would pipe up with one of his quasi-intellectual bits of satire or "i'm right and you're wrong" histrionics.

we'd all turn about 30 degrees either right or left and we'd go back to talking about slayer or something worthwhile, and he'd be dissed and dismissed.

but no, it's the internet, and we have to wade through his fencesitting kaka to get to the real meat of any issue.

Dude: "They're nihilists".
Walter: "Huh?"
Dude: "They kept saying they believe in nothing".
Walter: "Nihilists? Jesus".

Would you be interested in selling that Kim Jong-il book in the pic?

If money grew on trees, I bet a lot of people would break their necks climbing up there to get it.

so, ignoring the fact that it is the DW you're arguing with, he surely has a point?
how did mao get made into a fashionable icon? i bought the waving hand watch from china for my brother, in full knowledge of mao's crimes. its a curio. but why did i buy it? its naff. it doesn't work. the strap broke too. but its kept on his mantle piece cos it's, well, you know... mao isn't it...
you won't see a chinese citizen wearing the watch; they are made for and sold, exclusively to, tourists. somehow, in the OP's words, mao merchandise is 'cool'.
are some dictators therefore more fashionable than others? what about mass murderers? sure you can pick up a hitler t-shirt but thats not cool is it?
'i mean that osama is soooo well dressed. just love that hiding-in-the-mountains-rural style you know...'

i didn't say shit about mao in my OP. hanoi is not in china.

it's vietnamese communist propaganda. from what i've examined about the vietnamese synthesis of marxism, leninism etc. and its application as an attack against colonial forces, i can't see much wrong with it. i can see lots wrong with mao.

learn to read.

word, i had had a couple BGI's before i typed that... didn't mean for it to sound totally hostile.

i just get frustrated when people take a simple plea for advice into a polarized political discussion. once again, the inevitable daechidong waygoof hijacked a thread that was about a legit question and turned it into a venue for his pseudo-intellectual hooey.

i'd much rather talk to a stoned mathematician than a drunk political scientist.
