How'd that old Soviet era joke go...
A guy saves and saves and finally has enough money to go buy a Lada (that's a car). He goes to the Lada dealership and signs the papers. The salesman says "You can pick up your new car nine months from now. December 14th."
The guy looks at the salesman and asks "Oh. Should I come in the morning or the afternoon?"
The salesguy blinks. "Does it matter? It's nine months from now."
The guy answers "I need to know because the plumber is coming in the morning."

It's called a laminated floor...
People usually buy it because they can't afford hardwood floors...
Most of the stuff in Korea that I've seen tends to be of the lower grade, but they'll charge you an arm and a leg to install it...
I've only seen a floating floor once in Korea...
Many people install them on their own. |
You don't know how annoying it is when materials you want simply aren't available in Korea, yet an hour's flight to advanced-world Japan or third-world China and they're plentiful AND reasonably priced AND everyone's using them.
If Kingfisher ever find their way to Korea, I'm closing shop for a week just to celebrate the fact.

Got that in Daewood Trump World III! Real nice place, but the bathrooms smell like a$$ For this much money, I'll be moving this summer. |
That's some very handsome digs you got there, Scarneck. I'd not normally believe your bathroom would have that problem, but I've been in 9-million-won/month villas that stink to high heaven at times, so I'm prepared to believe anything now. Kinda reminds me of Hong Kong in the '80s, when you'd have people who literally couldn't afford a pot to pee in, yet they all had the latest TVs and VCRs in their creaky, reeky houseboats & such.
I haven't seen the "IIIs", but we did a very small piece of work for a Trump World "II" a year or so ago. I recall that the client's (water-buffalo hide?) sofa cost them a cool 100 million won, and I was thinking that our fee wouldn't even be one cushion's worth. |

If that's the case, someone screwed up because an elbow in the drain to trap water, which in turn traps the smell, is all that's needed. |

| The word "P-trap" isn't in their handy man's dictionary. It seems to only get really funky in the evening. In the other bathroom, I can smell if the dude next door lights up. Plumbing design is their downfall. Hot and cold water fluctuate constantly. I'll be moving from the studio tower to the apartment tower next month. I'd assume it would be better, but you know the saying... |

| The hot and cold water fluctuates, as in the pipes weren't properly space? Looks like the plumber really was an amateur. |

Your situation might be different from mine but I found I had this problem. My unit has a boiler. There is no hot water tank. Its a gas boiler that heats the water on demand. You gotta run the water for a good 5 minutes to get the water coming out of the tap hot but if you accidently click off the hot water while trying to adjust the flow, the temperature drops to ice cold and then takes a bit to heat up again. |

| It doesn't matter how long you run the shower. You get scalded and then froze repeatedly. It's strange because the kid's shower doesn't have the problem as bad, at least they don't complain about it. The wife hates it, I just deal with it. I probably have the on-demand heater also. In the winter when the floor would heat up, the pipes sounded like a jet engine! They bled the air out of the lines several times, but it still makes too much noise. Engineers were scratching their heads on this one... |

My building has crazy strong water pressure. I found if I kept the water heat thermostat turned down to a lower level and reduced the water pressure going into the boiler via the shut off valves, I got a decent heating times and an even flow. |
