Lately, we have had these huge brown furry spiders in our apatu. They look like mini-tarantulas, and spew white venom when approached.....

Have you seen them? What kind of spiders are they, and will they cause me any harm?
Shocked

IMHO

anything that "SPEWS white VENOM" is to be considered as somewhat frightening.

venom (vĕn'əm) pronunciation
n.

1. A poisonous secretion of an animal, such as a snake, spider, or scorpion, usually transmitted by a bite or sting.
2. A poison.

BRB.....

Yep...as you thought....it's bad.

If I ever saw anything like that in my apartment I would seriously move.
I have nightmares about those giant black and yellow spiders. Thankfully I've only ever seen them outdoors. *knock knock*

How big is "big"? What is the approx. size of the body, length of the legs? Can you get a picture of it and post it? Preferrably, u should get it to pose next to a known object, i.e. a 100 or 500 won coin, for the sake of relativity.

(Let us know how that works out...)

The first night in my new apt. in HK, I looked under the sink and saw a spider that was "huge, brown and furry". The body wasn't *too* big, about the size of a man's thumb, and the legs were about as long as a pinky finger, but real skinny-like. But man, was that sucker fast and nimble!. We enlisted the help of our neighbors who had some kind of bug spray (as we had nothing, being our first night in the place), but that just pi$$ed this thing off. It sort of half-ran, half-jumped out of its little hiding spot and came after US! I grabbed a shoe and sent it back to hell.

...and I let my roommate clean up the mess Laughing

We were later told that it was a variant of a Huntsman spider, and that they were pretty common in that area/building.

I no longer live in that building.

Any pics? I'm an arachnophobe (sp?) myself. Fortunately I have a cat to defend me.

I can't abide spiders under the same roof either. I usually capture them and release them outside though, not kill them.

its not the big ones you should be afraid off, its the wee little ones that pack the most bite.
Im from Australia, the big ones are scary the little ones are deadly.
good luck with that, i would be carrying raid with me where ever i stepped
