is there an english-language meterological website that gives you the yellow dust warnings - when to stay indoors etc - in English? Spent all morning running outside yesterday before being told 'yellow dust today, news say, no training, no walking, you outside, you die'. So i wouldn't mind finding out some way beforehand to prevent certain death. I'm in wonju. cheers.
(and how bad for you is it?) |

Can't find Benadryl anywhere! Prescribed Korean medicine sucks.
I am dying a slow, miserable death. |

I get all warnings in English and delivered to me in person. My boss keeps on top of it for me. They all know I have asthma, so I get told when the yellow dust is expected, yelled at if they are at all suspicious that I ran to work (if running a bit late), and get reminded to wear a mask whenever the air is considered to be even a little bad.
I would also like to have a website I could visit and keep on top of things, though. But, having a boss nice enough to do it for me is pretty great, too. |

Who was that masked man?
I don't know, but he left a saliva bullet. |

My sole class after lunch got cancelled because of the dust. Funny thing is, I just dont see any dust. The air looks fine (relatively). |

Of course. Whiteboards do not have dust.

The dust was affecting me a few weeks ago. The air seems cleaner now. Is it maybe that people only think it's worse because its the 'traditional' time of year for the yellow dust, kind of like they say the rain season is in June and July, although floods occur in August? |

I have a temperature of 102 and feel like my head is going to explode (among other places). This after already suffering late last winter from the stomach flu.
Can I blame my recent ailment on the yellow dust? I was out practically all day on Wednesday.
My bad.

Cant see as how the dust could cause a fever but it could certainly aggravate other symptoms of a cold or flu.
Korea Times (& its website) has been pretty good about running warnings about impending episodes. Seems theyre predictable enough -- when the winds pick up in China we're generally in for it a day or 2 later.
Readily observable in contrast to the generally clean air of Gangwondo -- I guess you Seoulites have to distinguish it from the smog too. Fine clear day here today but this wednesday was nasty.
Dont forget to double your kimchi intake! But seriously, drinking lots of fresh water these days is a sensible precaution. |

One day we had a bit of yellow dust in the late afternoon. Visibility was down to 10 or 20 kms. Mostly it's been clear. But there was actually an article on the approaching storm cited on the "Drudge Report" the day before the little amount of dust we had appeared. |
