I did it (except for the part about studying Korean, and I blame that on getting really busy at work)! I cut out the Starbucks, and I am over my severe coffee addiction. Cutting back on the Starbucks also had an effect on my ability to watch my spending. I still spent more than I wanted to, but I made really good progress, especially by ONLY buying clothing that was on sale (I usually buy things full price because I generally think sale items are on sale because no one wants the item to begin with! I know better now). Also, my attitude has improved, although I had a bit of a setback (I was in line at E-Mart and some guy asked me if I spoke English or French and I shook my head no. I didn't feel like chatting, but then I felt bad for my lack of magnamity- sp?). I'm a bit paranoid sometimes when I'm out in public (for some very deeply rooted reasons), and it's something I need to work on. I can't overcome it in a month, but baby steps eventually lead to success. Oh, I still have a problem with inattention when I'm doing assessments, but I'm getting better at multitasking!! Wink

Be it resolved that I shall:

go to the gym three days per week
learn to cook two new healthy dishes at home
study my Korean textbooks at least twice per week

Phew, that ought to be enough.

Wow. I made a big ol' liar out of myself. I got ill, meanwhile my gym pass lapsed and I used the yellow dust as an excuse not to run outside. I tried out three new recipes, but only one turned out both healthy and edible. I have been studying Hanja, and practising it on the bus, but I haven't been making a strict habit of it (just brushing up on nasty insults, should the need arise.)

I don't know who's with me for May, but I'm going on.

I've become too lax going to the gym, especially running and working the abs. Therefore, I resolve to go to the gym at least 21 times in May. Further, on running days, I'll make sure to do stomach work before I leave.

Second, I will not drink alone at home, clamato or no clamato.

So be it, beginning Sunday.

Oops. I smoked, but I did enact some sort of one-day on, one-day off smoking plan. Stuck to it pretty well for the month. For May, I'm going to make it one-day on, two-days off, or at least attempt it.

Don't really want to quit, just want to turn it into social/drinking smoking.

I will finish the application to business school.

I will run to at least three places outside Suwon - thinking of Ansan, Yongin, and maybe Osan again.

Well, without a doubt.. my goal is to put time into my MA Thesis Paper. I'm going to allot a minimum of 10 hours a week towards it.

I hope to actually have it finished by the end of MAY.. but just putting in that 10 hours a week contribute significanly to the ultimate goal.

So thats my MAY goal.. a simple one this month.. but an extremely important one personally.

I'm on track. Tomorrow will be day 14 at the gym and the seventh time I'll be lying prone on the floor in a mess of sweat trying to get those abs hard and strong. I tell you, man, I'm not a pretty sight in there. I'm in a definite state of rudeness.

And there's been no drinking alone at home either. That one's been far easier to stick to than making a committment to the abs.

Now Tiger Beer, I haven't seen you posting much here or elsewhere lately. Might it be because you are too busy working toward your May goal?

Unfortunately not.

I've been busy with a ton of other things.. just went out tonight again.

On the plus side, I have also been setting aside time as of recently to work on my main goal (this MA thesis paper). I have a good organizational approach planned out to finishing it, and as of very recently, am putting aside a bit of time whenever I can to getting more of it finished. But with this nice weather, I admit to being distracted by other things beyond Daves and the Thesis unfortunately. Sad

BUT.. this thread.. does place the main goal in the back of my mind especially recently as its getting closer to the end of the month! I don't want to be caught off-guard like last month thinking that this thread and my accountability was thrown out the window!

Alright people, the month is up.

One of my goals was to not drink alone at home, and I met that one. I also just got back from the gym, day 21, so I met the other goal too. Ab work was done on running days and I have never looked better. Yeah right. I see no improvement at all and I'm nowhere near beach ready for Bedaihe in August. This is not good. Crying or Very sad

So the June goal is the same as the May goal.

No drinking alone at home and 20 days at the gym, with ab work on running days.

Let me tell you, it's hard living when you got to be accountable to the Dave's ESL One month goals and accountabilty thread.

How about everyone else?

Yeah, you got that right!

I put a strong drive on my MA Thesis the last 10 days of this month. Spent a few nights going 5-6 hours straight on it. I didn't do the 10 hours straight per week, but made up for it by getting more into the end of the month.

As for JUNE. Its going to be tough.. I'm teaching at a university with exam week and then vacation starts. But, will continue with the MA Thesis goal. This month, I will shoot for completely finishing a rough draft to hand over to my Thesis Advisor. The main goal however, will be to at least put in 10 hours a week at writing and research once again this month.

Well, I've had better months. I got struck down with a severe case of malaise the beginning of this month. I had stress piled on sickness piled on my sleep deprived senses, all the while contemplating a future where all my dreams were broken. I had no will to get up and eat, let alone go to the gym. By the 13th, I had snapped out of it, but it was too late to make the gym 20 times. I ended up going 14. I also drank alone at home twice. That's it, 0 for 2, in June. I was a big fat failure in the goal and accountability thread.

My July goal is not to have any goals. To not strive for anything, to not long to complete a single thing, to just be, and be nothing, if that's what that means.
