I have read on here about the guy being expensive, now I want to write about him being a rip off.
I made a copy of a movie for one of my customers. It was right up his alley. As I did not want to put the time and effort in to encoding it to a VCD I gave him the AVI and instructions on how to get the correct CODECS etc....
Well, he really wanted to be able to play it on his DVD player so he went to Johnny rip off to get it made into a VCD.
Johnny charged him 40.000 fucking won to make it into a VCD. For those of you that do not know, converting an AVI file to a VCD is not much work. It will take you a few tries to get it perfect, but overall you can use freeware and find millions of places that will give you step by step instructions.
To make it even worse, he did not even get the audio on the VCD. So he over charged this guy by at least 30.000 Won and did not even take the two minutes to check the two CDs he just made.
Stay away from him at all costs. |

LOL
Has anyone had any experience with this place?
Why?
Cause...
They installed XP on a system (Intel Pentium 1 Gig, 256 Ram).
First they screwed up royally by reformatting the second partition after being asked not to.
Second they didn't do a complete install.
IE. They didn't even install the Nvidia (64MB w/TV Out) graphics driver. When I called about this they said well, "It depends on the situation and the specs of the computer...He went on and on. From the basic simple tech questions I asked he had no idea about what I asked him!

Seems like all the computer repair places in Itaewon are rip-offs! |

Uncool that the final product doesn't work, but why is 40,000 Won an unreasonable rate to charge? When I used to get pimped out to fix people's computers professionally, it was $60 an hour for my time be it stripping a laser printer to trace a short or installing Window's while sitting there peacefully.
If someone walked up to me and said they were going to pay me to do that, I doubt I would do it for less than 40,000. I'd have to download and install the necessary programs, copy and decode the AVI file, and then burn it to a CD. That's a serious time investment and not something that can be done in under five minutes.
Just what do you feel would have been a reasonable amount of time and amount charged? |

You know, I keep waiting for the day when someone goes to a Korean doctor to get their appendix removed, and ends up being castorated by accident. Then posts on here about it.
Why, you ask?
So I can read Gord's response, and see what he dreams up as a defense for the doctor who cut the wrong thing, and what he says it was actually the OPs fault. |

Why the use of a scarecrow in attacking me?
Chiaa's posts suggested that 40,000 Won was an unreasonable amount to charge for the service even if it had worked, and I was asking why. I have not suggested that payment for a product that did not work was acceptable despite your accusation that is what I had said. |

40.000 is too much to ask because all the guy has to do is do about three clicks and then let a computer just run its course. If he had to sit there for an hour and babysit the computer while it was doing its work, that is a whole different story.
The guy is a rip off plain and simple. Stay away from him! |

I have to wonder...
~ Why didn't the OP do it for the customer himself if it's so easy?
~ Why didn't the OP tell the customer how to do it, if it's so easy?
~ What would the OP say is a fair price?
Seems that if it is that easy to do, then the customer is the fool, as is the OP if they didn't explain how easy it was.
We usually feel ripped off the worst when we are just too lazy to do something we can, but take it to a shop for the job. I mean, if one has no idea how to do something, then one wpuldn't feel ripped off...they would think the procedure is long and complex and wouldn't mind paying someone for their knowledge and service, not to mention time..
To the OP's customer, it probably wasn't a rip off, as they hadn't a clue how to do it. Interesting that they didn't post a complaint here or somewhere else. |
