.......go in person with my old employer to the immigration office and do something?
My ex-employer has been phoning saying that I need to go with him and hand in my ARC and be given the notice to leave the country.
I'm saying that would be a waste of time as I'm going on the Visa run pretty soon and I'd like to hand my ARC in at the airport. As this involves leaving the country the notice to leave Korea is redundant.
My old employer let me go due to the school going belly-up so there isn't any animosity. I have a letter of release. |

From what I understand, yes, you do need to go to immigration with your employer in person because he/she is your official sponser...you can't cancel your visa by yourself. I think teachers have been successful in the past by simply handing in their ARC but it would probably be better to do it in person at immigration, then they will give you your 14-day exit order. |

As far as I know- they can cancel the visa without you being there. My old employer did. |

If you leave voluntarily, you have to go in to immigration with your boss\visa sponsor.
If you're fired, you don't have to go in. |

Your old director would have already advised them of the situation. He just wants to cover himself. If it's not inconvenient go with him to immi, they will issue an exit order and you will have 14 days to leave and he will have no further responsibilty for you. Your choice. |
