Step Up.
=========================

The worst one I have ever encountered that is not just homemade, but claims to be a "real" series. Man it is bad.

Gogo Loves English *gag* I will NEVER accept a job where that series is used as part of the curriculum. You couldn't pay me enough to endure it.

Though not horrible, I am REALLY not a fan of Lets Go 2. I generally don;t like let's go books, but 2 is the piece a resistance: its ful of super easy then superdifficult pages, no defined voc, no defined grammar, just an amourphous mix.

For adults- side by side. It's fantastic to use as a gramar supplement with low level students, but unbelievably boring on it's own.

Eins English texts, and Eastern English's storybooks and "Magic" series.

Nothing like books (for Native Speakers) that have all their instructions and teacher's manuals only in Korean. Filled with mistakes too.

Side-by-Side.

It's a great grammar book to use as a supplement for lower level students, but soooo boring. For some reason Korean schools love to use it as conversation book for adults.

*edit*
typed this up before I saw your post peppermint. great minds think alike.

Discovery sucks sucks sucks. It's dull, there are no supplemental materials. You've definitely got to be creative to make it work.

The Popcorn series is hideously bad. I'd rather slit my wrists than teach that one again!

Where are these "worst" book series produced?
Where are the "best" ones produced?
Why would Koreans, given their love of hierarchy and rankings and such, not all determine what was the best and not bother with crap ESL materials? Surely they can afford it, can't they?

It's one of my favourite books for kids. It's not always easy for them but used right it drills in some good basics. I've always enjoyed using it, and it's been received well. Younger kids like the songs a lot.

I despise New Parade starter with a vengeance so unholy that churches burn in my vicinity. I wish plagues of infestation upon the families of those who wrote it. I also dislike any All Aboard book, but my damnation of the authors is less strong.

The "Wake Up" series for the little ones is so bad, it's reaches the point of being absurd.

An entire page devoted to "They are Brown Curtains". Sweet mother of God.

Gogo IS loathsome. Only marginally less repugnant are the Child U books, although in hindsight they are Nobel-worthy master works when compared to the newest affliction I was forced to endure, Say Say. (http://www.anysay.net). How repellant is the Say Say series? The workbook, be it for the beginners or the advanced students, contained nothing but tracing excersizes. Also, the second-most advanced level of Say Say contained, as one of the centerpieces, a bit where kids (6th graders mind you) count back from 39 by 3s and each time say "Buzz". (39, Buzz, 36, Buzz...) The kids were NOT receptive.
