If you are interested I bought Star Wars Ep III near Youngsan for 5000 won yesterday. The copy was decent but had some odd numbers running through it (along the top). It was fine quality otherwise.
So, if you are looking for your SW fix, you can head there. I bought it near the RED light district (don't ask) but I saw copies in other areas too.

Well done for perpetuating illegal criminal activity in Korea. Enjoy the film! |

Yeah. Any real Star Wars fan would much rather actually pay to see the film on the big screen. Seeing it on a tiny little 20" TV would be crap compared to the big screen and surround sound! Ah, I can't wait til it opens here in a few days!!!

I've been using Episode III in my classes. Funny thing is, most kids haven't even seen the original. They have no clue what a Jedi is. |

You complain about a Communist sympathizer and how he doesn't play by the rules. Then you turn around and do the same thing. What are you going to do? Hypocrite me to death? Criminal Corea is more like it. |

They downloaded that copy with #'s from the internet. It's a pretty crappy copy and the Time Code numbers along the top are distracting to say the least. Does your version have a lot of pops and clicks in the audio at different segments?
Links to 7 meg samples can be found here: http://www.waxy.org/archive/2005/05/19/star_war.shtml
My theory is that Lucas released it himself. I think he was trying to take advantage of everyone looking for it, and put the most crappy passable copy up that he could so it'd flood the torrents and squelch better copies. People would see the crappy one, but still want to pay to see it looking like it should.
By the way, I was seriously disappointed in how wimpy the Jedi Knights fought... what a bunch of losers.

A lawyer friend of mine assures me that sharing movies and what not through the internet is not yet a criminal activity in Korea |

I would like to chip in.
Went to the theatre. Do -highly- recommend it....My opinion is that Lucas actually managed to redeem himself. |

What amazes me is my co-worker paying like 1,000 won per movie to download from a Korean site at high speed.
I have a feeling that Hollywood sees none of this money. |

I turned to the darkside in Yongsan today,
5000 won, thats a bibimbap and a coke so I said "Ok give me two"
Figured a good well acted story would overcome the poor sound quality and the numbers on the screen,
Boy, was I wrong
The numbers didn't bother me and the sound was Ok, but that dialogue was as cringe inducing as they come.
Maybe being hungover had something to do with it, but I found it to be overly long and boring. Plus I vomited two times.
The actor playing Anakin has been working out, nice breasts.
(Oops thats breast - s, well he did have nice ones. Very well defined) |

Are you daft or just got a cucumber up your butt today? Did I ever once complain about him not playing by the rules (Soviet man i'm guessing?)? No, I called him a punk for not adhearing to his own beliefs. DW is the one who wanted to call the cops on him. Bite me guri guy, why don't you go take a leap off of that dumb Guri tower.
If you want to discuss legalities about illegal copies, take it to the off-topic forum, or even the tech forum. I posted here because it is related to those living in Korea. The movie isn't out here yet, there are DVD "copies" floating around, and I thought i'd talk about the one I got so
As for the other posters questions on the move, yeah it was better than the last two releases. I enjoyed it and look forward to watching it on the big screen (when my wife gets back in town). |

me too..
why pay 5000 won when you can just download it for free from torrent!
ill be watching this on the BIG screen as the way LUCAS wanted it to be seen with the THX sound! then I will download the DVD.. he doesnt need the money for DVD sales! he will make hundreds of millions on the theatre release, then sydication on TV and cable for the rest of his life!
BUT!! if he doesnt release a DVD BOX SET with extra footage etc.. like he did with INDIANA JONES! then he will have my MONEY the B'STARD! |
