| My advice to you and everyone else is to get your degree copied and notorised at the nearest Korean consulate!! I would never send my original degree overseas! As for that Matthew Kim, I went to him to look for a job, and when I couldnt make an interview I never heard from him again despite sending several emails...... then he emailed me with a job about 2 months later... I told him where to go. |

Ok,
just got an offer in Shiheung teaching Kindergarten and Elementary aged students teaching hours are approx 30hrs a week 1,900,000 Korean Won/month.
DEoes this sound reasonable? Should I just risk it with this recruiter that people have been telling me not to?
I did get in contact with someone he found a job for who says I should do what my gut tells me but tha he did alright for him.
Im really torn on this! |

| Seems like towards the poorer end of the scale, but really there isn't that much variation with regards pay, though those hours sound a bit high to me. I'd need more details to make a more accurate assesment, where is Shiheung? |

Theres a fair number of schools advertising that hire directly too. You do not need a recruiter!
Get a new diploma & get certified copies. Cut your losses with this bad recruiter & just forget him & move on. Theres lots of decent jobs here.
Best luck to you. |

Thanks guys
I think I will cut my losses and try something else.
The thing with recruiters is that they make life so easy for you.
I mean knowing what I know about Korea (nothing-low!) I wouldnt feel comfortable trying to get a job by myself.
They organise things for you ie visa, flights, apartments etc whereas the the schools probably would prefer you to just be there and see. This is not an option for me as i cant afford the flight let alone a sum of money to tide me over.
If I have this wrong please correct me. As I said my knowledge is low with regards to how things work over there.
Bunnymonster, Shiheung is on the outskirts, south-east of seoul there is a carrefour there and there is a bridge called the Shiheung bridge. It does seem kind of in the sticks, again correct me if im wrong.
Can anybody actually post a link to a website where Matthew Kim or SnB Korea is blacklisted on? Ive been searching for a while now and I cant find anything.
Any help would be hugely appreciated. |

Actually most schools will do that for you as well. if a school is posting on here, chances are the've hired before and know what to do. You still have to watch out but at least their motives are clear, they want you to work for them.
A recruiter often does not list their it's motivation leading you to believe that they are working for you.
The job you posted did sound on the lower end. it may be good, or bad, hard to tell with that info. You have no xp and few contacts here so whomever told you to go with your gut...
was a wise man. |

Thanks Capitano,
It feels like the smart thing to do, cut my loses.
However I do feel that recruiters are hardly loved on this board and I wondered if all the hate was a general one, thats why I asked for a link to a blacklist website with his name on.
Ive been searching all day and have found zilch. I dont know if anyone understands my willingness to trust him, but as I said I think the smart thing is to flee today to fight another day.
Thanks all for your input, if anyone can still find a link (a reliable source if poss) I would appreciate it. |

| Most recruiters aren't the best way to go...I would rather go with word-of-mouth type situations. If you want to work by July, and you WANNA know now, write me because I have a very soon job opening that I'm leaving in Suji (just south of Seoul). It's a great school and situation. |
